Today’s Menu: Smoked Turkey Sausage Alfredo w/ Sourdough Bread

Smoked Turkey Sausage Alfredo w Sourdough Bread 006

I’m back to playing nurse, Mom and Dad both have the flu that’s going around. I’ve been lucky so far ans have avoided it. Mostly cloudy out today and windy, rain moving in later this evening. Went to Kroger this morning, I had planned o go to walmart but I got a late start. If you’re not at Walmart by 7:30 in the morning all the Electric Carts are in use or all ready battery dead. So at Kroger I got the basic flu survival kits; Kleenex, Cough Drops, and Cough and Congestion Medicine. Hopefully the folks won’t have this long. For dinner tonight I prepared a Smoked Turkey Sausage Alfredo w/ Sourdough Bread.

I had seen this recipe in several Cooking Magazines. So I decided tonight was the night to try it out, Sausage Alfredo. The original recipe calls for the Beef or Pork Smoked Sausage, I opted to go with one of my favorites Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage. I’ll needed the following ingredients to make the dish; Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage, 8 oz., Ronzoni Healthy Harvest 100% Whole Grain Penne Rigate (diagonally cut into 1/4” slices, Cooked and Drained), 2 cups Heavy Cream, 2 teaspoons Cajun Seasoning, and 1/2 cup grated Parmesan Cheese. The original recipe, from Hillshire Farm, and link is at the end of the post.

To prepare it I prepared the Pasta according to package directions; drained and set aside. Saute the Sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 6 minutes, turning occasionally. Add Cream and Cajun Seasoning; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer gently for 3-4 minutes or until mixture begins to thicken. Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan Cheese. Add pasta to sauce and toss. Then I enjoyed one new and delicious dish! Another Keeper Recipe. I served with a Baked Sourdough Loaf of Bread. For dessert later a Jello Sugar Free Dark Cherry Jello.

  1. Hmmm, this looks delicious! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  2. Cream in any recipe is a treat that’s twice as delectable as the one without it.
