Today’s Menu: Leftover Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

 

To start our morning off I baked a small roll of Pillsbury Buttery Biscuits, fried up some Johnsonville Turkey Breakfast Patties, and had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. I love these as a Breakfast Sandwich, the Patties are the perfect size for Biscuits. Mostly Sunny and 70 degrees out today! I had to have Mom at the Doctors to see if they were able to rid of the Basal Skin Cancer. Her face looks good and all the scars have healed. Well they w3ere real pleased with Mom and they said it looks as though all of it was removed. They are watching one spot on the side of her face. We go back in 2 months just to be sure. I’ll have to cover my Pepper and Tomato Plants for overnight. The low will be 30 degrees or colder. For Dinner tonight I heated up the Leftover Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo. As always I never let Leftover Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo go to waste. I just put it all in a sauce pan and reheat it on low heat. For Dessert later I had a Dole Sliced Peaches Cup. Gumbo is always one of my favorite meals, the Rice, Spices, Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage makes the perfect Gumbo! Plus the leftovers are just as good if not better! To make it I used a box of Zatarain’s Gumbo Dinner Mix for the Gumbo base, 1 1/2 Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausages (sliced into bite size slices), a bag of Meijer Brand Jumbo Shrimp and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce. I precooked the Sausage and Shrimp, according to the package instructions, before adding it to the Gumbo.

 

It’s very easy to prepare, it takes about 25-30 minutes. To start; I just boil the stock that’s in the packet, add the sliced Turkey Sausage to the stock along with a few shakes of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce and continued to cook for 10-15 minutes. Then I added the Shrimp and simmered for another 2-3 minutes. And the Gumbo is ready to serve and It turns out fantastic! Nice flavor, incredible tasting stock, meaty Shrimp and Sausage, and plenty of Rice, makes one easily prepared hearty and delicious dish.

 

 

 

Zatarain’s Gumbo Mix
Zatarain’s Gumbo Mix is a flavorful foundation of long grain rice in a rich, seasoned roux with red and green bell peppers. Just add one pound of cooked chicken, smoked sausage or seafood, cut into bite size pieces and dinner is ready in just 30 minutes.
Gumbo can be prepared with your choice of 1 lb. of cooked chicken, smoked sausage or seafood, cut into bite-size pieces.

STOVE TOP DIRECTIONS
1. MIX 6 cups water and Gumbo Mix in 4-quart saucepan until well blended.

Today’s Menu: Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

 

For Breakfast this morning I had my morning cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. 58 degrees, windy and sunny out today. It was a rough night around the area last night. South of us they had multiple tornados and heavy rain. We had thunderstorms, high wind and heavy rain. No damage in our area though. After my Tea it was outside and picked up trash, limbs and leaves around the yard. Spent most of the day outside, I also helped out a couple of neighbors cleaning their yard. For my Dinner tonight I prepared a personal favorite, Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo.

 

Gumbo is always one of my favorite meals, the Rice, Spices, Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage makes the perfect Gumbo! Plus the leftovers are just as good if not better! To make it I used a box of Zatarain’s Gumbo Dinner Mix for the Gumbo base, 1 1/2 Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausages (sliced into bite size slices), a bag of Meijer Brand Jumbo Shrimp and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce. Today’s Menu: Red Beans and Rice w/ Smoked Turkey Sausage and Baked Garlic Loaf Bread

 

 

For Breakfast I toasted a Thomas English Muffin and fried up a al fresco Chicken Sausage Patty. This makes the perfect Breakfast Sandwich. I also had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. 70 degrees and mostly sunny out today. I got the cart out of the shed and did some yard work. I also got out the chairs and table for the outdoor deck. Washed them down before putting them out. I also got my Garden Boxes out, I use these to grow my small garden. I filled them up 1/2 way with dirt and peat moss. I wanted to get the dirt in them to settle in the boxes before I get plants for them. I love warm weather! Dinner tonight I prepared Red Beans and Rice w/ Smoked Turkey Sausage and Baked Garlic Loaf Bread.

 

I had not made this in a while, long overdue! For the Red Beans and Rice I used a box of Zatarain’s Reduced Sodium Red Beans and Rice Mix. For the Sausage I used Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey and for the Garlic Loaf I used . Perfect Bread. To prepare it I’ll need; the box of the Zatarain’s Red Beans and Rice Mix, 3 cups Water, Extra Light Olive Oil, and the Sausage. Mixed 3 cups of water, Rice Mix and 2 tbsp. of Light Olive Oil in 2-quart saucepan until it was well blended. Brought to a boil. Then reduced the heat to low and covered.

 

I got another skillet out as the Rice was cooking, sprayed it with Pam Non Stick Spray and added a 1/2 tablespoon of Extra Light Olive Oil. Heated it on medium heat. Sliced the Sausage into bite size slices and added them to the heated skillet until heated through. Removed them from the heat and set aside until needed.

 

 

Simmered the Rice for 25 minutes, until the tender. Stirred occasionally to prevent the Rice and Beans from sticking. With 4 minutes of cooking time left I added the Smoked Turkey Sausage. When done I removed the skillet from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. And done ready to serve! This makes one fantastic Meal! The Red Beans and Rice is Seasoned perfect. It made plenty of both the Red Beans and the Rice. And the Sausage works perfect with it. One Delicious and Hearty Dish!

 

Then I also baked a loaf of New York Bakery Garlic Loaf Bread.! I loved this hearty dish tonight, plenty leftover for a couple of lunches! For Dessert/Snack later a bowl of Skinny Pop – Pop Corn with a Diet Peach Snapple to drink.

Back home I finally got around to painting the shed door. Afterward I swept and straightened the shed up a bit. Just a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea to start my morning. Then I was off to try to find some Salt. I first went to Meijer which not only did not have any salt or by the looks of the shelves anything else. They are so shorthanded it’s amazing they are open. So from Meijer to Kroger. I lucked out and found some Salt buried behind a few things. So I was able to grab a couple of bags. Back home I worked the rest of the afternoon on chipping the remaining ice away from the bottom of the driveway and curb. The ice was so thick I had to use a pick, which was tough doing it from a wheelchair. Finally got it though and we are ice free on the driveway! I’m beat and done for the day. For my Dinner tonight I heated up the Leftover Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo. I’ve left the original post from last night below for recipe directions and description. Today’s Menu: Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

 

For Breakfast this morning I prepared some Simply Potatoes Shredded Hash Browns, 2 Johnsonville Turkey Breakfast Sausage Links, a Sunny Side Up Egg, and my morning cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Outside today it’s 40 degrees and partly cloudy. We still have a lot of snow and ice, hurry up Spring Time! After Breakfast I did a load of laundry and cleaned the house, dusted and ran the vacuum. Today’s Menu: Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

 

For Breakfast this morning I had a 1/2 Cake Donut and a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. After Breakfast I took Mom over to the Gordon Food Service Store. They had some good buys going on. They had Prime Rib Roast on sale that we got. Mom wants to have it for New Years. Stopped and picked up Breakfast for her at Wendy’s. Back home I relaxed for a while, we had to be at a local Walgreens at 4:00. Me and Mom both got our Virus Booster Shot. Nothing else going on. For Dinner tonight I up the Leftover Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo. I never let the Leftovers of Gumbo go to waste! Love that Gumbo! To make it I used a box of Zatarain’s Gumbo Dinner Mix for the Gumbo base, 1 1/2 Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausages (sliced into bite size slices), a bag of Meijer Brand Jumbo Shrimp and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce. I precooked the Sausage and Shrimp, according to the package instructions, before adding it to the Gumbo.

 

It’s very easy to prepare, it takes about 25-30 minutes. To start; I just boil the stock that’s in the packet, add the sliced Turkey Sausage to the stock along with a few shakes of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce and continued to cook for 10-15 minutes. Then I added the Shrimp and simmered for another 2-3 minutes. And the Gumbo is ready to serve and It turns out fantastic! Nice flavor, incredible tasting stock, meaty Shrimp and Sausage, and plenty of Rice, makes one easily prepared hearty and delicious dish. Plus enough leftovers for a couple of lunches too, I took a small bowl over to my neighbor also, she always enjoys that. Then for Dessert/Snack later a Diet Peach Snapple.

Zatarain’s Gumbo Mix is a flavorful foundation of long grain rice in a rich, seasoned roux with red and green bell peppers. Just add one pound of cooked chicken, smoked sausage or seafood, cut into bite size pieces and dinner is ready in just 30 minutes.
Gumbo can be prepared with your choice of 1 lb. of cooked chicken, smoked sausage or seafood, cut into bite-size pieces.

STOVE TOP DIRECTIONS
1. MIX 6 cups water and Gumbo Mix in 4-quart saucepan until well blended.
2. For Chicken or Sausage Gumbo: Stir in chicken or sausage. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 25 minutes or until rice is tender.
For Seafood Gumbo: Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 15 minutes. Stir in seafood. Cover and simmer 10 minutes longer or until rice is tender.

Today’s Menu: Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

 

For Breakfast I had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Rain and more Rain all day! It was 54 degrees this morning and 39 degrees by 6:00 this evening. I made an order at Kroger that was delivered around 10:00 this morning. Besides that not a thing going on. Watched TV, worked some Crosswords and did some reading. Can’t get much more layed back! For Dinner tonight I prepared a personal favorite, Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo.

 

Gumbo is always one of my favorite meals, the Rice, Spices, Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage makes the perfect Gumbo! Plus the leftovers are just as good if not better! Today’s Menu: Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

 

 

For Breakfast I made Pancakes and Sausage Patties. I used a package of Pioneer Buttermilk Pancake Mix for our Pancakes. We used I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter and Log Cabin Sugar Free Maple Syrup for toppings. I also fried up a couple of Bob Evan’s Sausage Patties for Mom. I love pancakes! I also had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. I saw a few Snow Flurries blowing around outside early this morning, I’m not ready for this! Cloudy, very windy with a high of 41 degrees. Stayed inside most of the day, my Sinuses were bad today. It always acts up when there’s a huge change in the weather. Did a few things around the house and later watched some College Football.
