Today’s Menu: Turkey Frank Cincinnati Style Cheese Coneys

 

 

For Breakfast this morning I toasted a Thomas Light English Muffin and topped it with Smucker’s Sugar Free Blackberry Jam. I also had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Woke up to about an inch of snow on the ground! Some places had 2 or more inches. It was just 64 degrees yesterday afternoon. This weather is why I’m having so many problems with my sinuses. The snow was just on cars, rooftops and the grass areas. The roads and such were to warm to stick. After Lunch I went and picked out new flooring for the spare bedroom where I’m at most of the time. We turned this into a den and have our food pantry back here. For Dinner tonight, another one of Mom’s favorites, I prepared Turkey Frank Cincinnati Style Cheese Coneys.

 

We love our Cheese Coneys around here I used Ball Park Smoked White Meat Turkey Franks, an excellent Turkey Frank! I boiled them, it took about 6 minutes and they were ready, plump, and delicious. Plus they are lower in calories and carbs than most other Hot Dogs, 45 calories and 5 carbs!

 

 

I heated a can of Skyline Chili with Beans for my topping. We prefer the Chili with Beans over the Chili with no Beans. It just gives the Coneys even more flavor with the added Beans! I served everything on a Healthy Life Wheat Hot Dog Buns. Put the Frank in the Bun then topped it with French’s Yellow Mustard, the Chili, and Sargento Reduced Fat Sharp Cheddar Shredded Cheese. Had a small side of some Skyline Oyster Crackers with a few drops of Frank’s Hot Sauce on them, which is a common way to have them here in the Cincinnati area. We love our Chili, Chili Dogs, Chili Spaghetti, and Hot Sauce here in the Cincinnati area. For Dessert/Snack later a bowl of Skinny Pop – Pop Corn with a Coke Zero to drink.

Today’s Menu: Grilled Buffalo Cheese and Bacon Burger and Baked Fries

 

To start the day off I toasted Thomas Light English Muffin that I topped with some Smucker’s Sugar Free Blackberry Jam. I also had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. 79 degrees and mostly sunny out today. Got the cart, rake, leaf blower and grass seed out of the shed. Raked the yard and then took the leaf blower and cleaned off the deck and driveway areas. Then took the blower and got the flower beds. Then finished sowing some grass seed in few spots around the yard. Love getting out in this weather! For Dinner tonight Grilled Buffalo Cheese and Bacon Burger and Baked Fries.

 

For the Buffalo Burger I used my favorite, the Wild Idea Buffalo 1/3-Lb Buffalo Burgers as usual. Their meaty, juicy and just flat out delicious! I had the Burger in the freezer so I laid in the fridge overnight to thaw. Uncovered the grill and cleaned it up. Used a Paper Towel and rubbed it in some Extra Light Olive Oil. Then rubbed the Grill Grate down with it. Then fired up the Grill! Seasoned my Burger with McCormick Grinder Sea Salt and Peppercorn Medley. With the Grill heated I started grilling. I grilled the Buffalo Burger and Brat and Hot Dog for Mom. I grilled the Burger about 3 minutes and flipped it over. After 2 minutes I added a slice of Boar’s Head Yellow Vermont Cheddar and cooked it another 1 minute. Added the al fresco Chicken Bacon that I had prepared earlier and done! Served the Burger on a Healthy Life Wheat Hamburger Bun. The Burger was juicy and delicious, as all the Wild Idea Products are. Just love a good Burger, Buffalo Burger! Plus that added flavor by grilling it.

 

To go with my Burger I prepared some Ore Ida Golden Crinkle Cut French Fries. Like all the Ore Ida Products, they are easy to prepare and delicious. I just baked them for 19 minutes and done! Served them with a side of Hunt’s Ketchup. For Dessert/Snack later a 100 Calorie Mini Bag of Snyder’s Stick Pretzels with a Sprite Zero to drink.

Today’s Menu: Baked Chili and Cheese Nachos

 

For Breakfast this morning I had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Very windy and a high of 44 degrees. After my Tea I headed to Meijer. They had Cook’s Hams on sale at 89 cents a pound. I wanted to get one before they were picked over, for an Easter Dinner Ham. They had some great looking Half Shank Bone In Hams! Meijer had a big crowd to be so early and most were grabbing a Ham. Back home I didn’t get outside, just too windy and cold. So I was Couch Potato all day! For Dinner tonight a real Comfort Food and Mom’s favorite, Baked Chili and Cheese Nachos.

 

So Mom loves Baked Chili and Cheese Nachos, as I do! So Nachos it is tonight! To make them I’ll need: Tostitos Multi Grain Scoops for my Chips. I love these with Salsa or just as a snack, they bake and hold their shape better than most chips. For my toppings I used 1 can of Mario Sliced Black Olives, sliced up some Green Olives, Mezzetta Deli Sliced Jalapeno Peppers, Hormel Turkey Chili with Beans, a few shakes (or more) of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, and Sargento Reduced Fat Mozzarella. Put all that together and it’s nothing but good Nachos! I especially love the Jalapenos, nice mild heat!

 

To prepare I preheated the oven at 400 degrees and sprayed a glass baking dish with Pam and layer everything in. I first opened up 2 cans of the Hormel Chili with Beans and heated them up in a saucepan, as it was heating I added about 6 shakes of Frank’s Hot Sauce to it and mixed. After the Chili was ready I added 4 tablespoons of Chili to the baking dish, then I added my Scoops (Chips). I then added the Sliced Black Olives and Sliced Green Olives, the remainder of the Chili, Sliced Jalapeno Peppers (Love These), and then top everything with the Cheese. Then just pop it in the oven for 10 minutes or until the Cheese has started to melt and everything is heated. We love Nachos, nothing better than a big plate of Chili Cheese Nachos! For Dessert/Snack later a 100 Calorie Mini Bag of Snyder’s Pretzels with a Coke Zero to drink.

Today’s Menu: Sharp Cheddar and Bacon Turkey Burger w/ Baked Fries

 

To start my day off I had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. 20 degrees out this morning, but no new snow overnight! First time in a while. I had to have Mom out to Ross, Ohio for her 2nd Covid Virus Vaccine shot. Her appointment was at 10:00 but we got there at 9:15 so she could get in line early. Good thing we did as the line later stretched through the store! I waited outside and there was just a steady stream of people going in. All were elderly so there was a lot of canes, walkers and wheelchairs. So glad that the elderly are getting theirs finally. So for Dinner tonight its a Sharp Cheddar and Chicken Bacon Turkey Burger w/ Baked Fries.

 

So I started by getting a skillet and spraying it with Pam Non Stick Cooking Spray and heating it on medium heat. For the Bacon I’m using al fresco Uncured Chicken Bacon. It fries up perfect with an excellent taste. I buy it at Meijer, it’s the only store I’ve found to carry it. I need 2 slices but fried 5 slices. Always remember when frying Bacon use the Bacon Math. Just decide how many slices you’ll need and double it or so. Because, at least when I fry Bacon, you end up eating as much as you fix as you’re preparing it!

 

I had bought a package of the Jennie – O Lean 93% Lean Turkey Burger Patties at Meijer and had them in the freezer. I grabbed a couple of them last night and let it thaw in the fridge overnight. To prepare the Burger I grabbed a skillet sprayed it the Pam and added 2 teaspoons of Extra Light Olive Oil, heated it on medium heat. When ready I added the Turkey Burger and cooked it for 14 minutes flipping it several times. With a minute of cooking time left I added a slice of Kraft Deli Deluxe Sharp Cheddar Cheese. And done!

 

Added the Bacon, Lettuce, some Hellman’s Spicy Chipotle Mayonnaise and served it on a Healthy Life Wheat Bun. Just love these Burgers, juicy and delicious, and with the Sharp Cheddar and Bacon it makes it that much better! I love this Mayo, you have to try it! I tried the Hellman’s Spicy Chipotle Mayonnaise on the last Turkey Burger and loved it! It’s nice and Creamy with excellent flavor and a nice little kick to it!

 

 

 

I also baked some Ore Ida Crinkle Cut Fries. I just baked them for 19 minutes and done! Served them with a side of Hunt’s Ketchup. For Dessert later a Jello Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Pudding.

Today’s Menu: Leftover 3 Bean Turkey Chili w/ Cornbread

 

To start this morning off I toasted a Thomas Light English Muffin that I topped with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter. I also prepared a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea for Breakfast. 25 degrees, snow flurries and cloudy out all day. Possible 1-2 inches of more snow coming in later tonight. Went and picked up Breakfast for Mom and stopped by the Bank for her. Not a lot going today, caught up on everything. And like yesterday, what a better way than Chili to heat up this cold Winter’s day! For Dinner tonight it’s Leftover 3 Bean Turkey Chili w/ Cornbread. We thought one more day of Chili would be great. I’m freezing the rest. I left yesterday’s post below for ingredients and directions. Stay Safe and Enjoy!

 

I love making a batch of my 3 Bean Turkey Chili! To make my Chili I’m using Jennie -O Lean Ground Turkey, 2 – 1lb. packages. The 3 Beans I use are 1 Can (16 oz.) Bush’s Chili Beans (Black Beans), 1 Can (16 oz.) Bush’s Chili Beans ( Kidney Beans), 1 Can (16 oz.) Bush’s Chili Beans (Great Northern Beans) drained and rinsed, Then I mix in 1 Red Onion (medium Chopped or Minced), 1 Jalapeno Pepper (Seeded and Chopped), and 3 Cloves Minced Garlic. For my spices I use 1 Packet McCormick Chili Mix, 2 Cans (6 oz.) Hunt’s Tomato Paste (2 cans),4 Cloves Minced Garlic, 2 tsp Ground Anchio Chile Pepper, 2 tsp Ground Paprika, 1 Tbs. Ground Chile Seasoning, 2 Tbs. Ground Roasted Cumin, 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon, 1 tbsp of Cilantro Leaves and 5 Dashes of Frank’s Hot Sauce or to taste (I usually add a lot more dashes!). What’s good about this recipe you can use your own favorite Spices and make your own tweaks to it.

 

First thing I do is get the Crock Pot out and put in a Glad Crock Pot Liner. The Liners are incredible, just line your Crock Pot with one and spray it with Pam Cooking Spray. Now you are set to go. It makes for one easy clean up, just remove it when done and give the inside of your Crock Pot a quick wipe down and your clean up is done! On with the recipe.

 

To prepare the Turkey, I started by browning the Jennie -O Ground Turkey. Using a large skillet sprayed with Pam Cooking Spray and 1 tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Preheat the skillet on medium heat. When heated I add the Ground Turkey and all the Seasonings and Tomato Paste, stirring often. When the Turkey has browned I put it aside and mixed my Beans. I opened all 3 cans of Bush Beans into a large bowl and stirred until mixed.

 

Next I turned the Slow Cooker on Low, sprayed the cooker liner with Pam Non Stick Spray, and added a 1/2 cup of Water to it. Let heat for about 20 minutes and I added everything to the Crock Pot. I’ll be cooking my Chili for 6 – 7 hours. Then sit back and enjoy the aroma, that usually starts after a couple of hours or so of simmering! I love a thick Chili and this one works! The Jennie – O Ground Turkey combined with all those Beans and Spices is a perfect match. Served it topped with some Sargento Reduced Fat Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese and a couple of shakes of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce. I’ll be using the Leftover Chili in a couple of different ways for meals , can’t wait! Chili is even better after sitting in the fridge for a day! I also prepared a small Cast Iron Skillet of Cornbread. For the Corn Bread I’m using Martha White White Corn Meal. The Cornbread goes perfect with Chili! Then for Dessert later a Jello Sugar Free Dark Cherry Jello.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3 Bean Turkey Chili

Ingredients
2 – 1 lb. package Jennie – O Extra Lean Ground Turkey Breast
2 Cans (6 oz.) Hunt’s Tomato Paste
1 Can (16 oz.) Bush’s Chili Beans (Red Beans)
1 Can (16 oz.) Bush’s Chili Beans ( Kidney Beans)
1 Can (16 oz.) Bush’s Chili Beans (Great Northern Beans), drained and rinsed
1 Packet McCormick Chili Mix
1/2 Red Onion (medium), Chopped or Minced
1 Jalapeno Pepper, Unseeded and Chopped
4 Cloves Minced Garlic
4 Cloves Minced Garlic
2 Tsps Ground Anchio Chile Pepper
2 Tsps Ground Paprika
1 Tbs. Ground Chile Seasoning
2 Tbs. Ground Roasted Cumin
1 Tsps Ground Cinnamon
1 Tbs of Cilantro Leaves
5 Dashes of Frank’s Hot Sauce or to taste.
1/2 Cup of Water
Shredded Cheese, I like to use Grated Dutch Gouda or Sargento Reduced Fat Shredded Cheddar Cheese (Topping)
Oyster Crackers
Frank’s Hot Sauce or to taste.

Directions:
*Brown Turkey in large saucepan on medium-high heat 10 min. or until no longer pink, stirring occasionally. Add all remaining spices and ingredients except 1 can of the tomato paste and water.
*ADD to slow cooker and add in the remaining 1 can of tomato paste and 1/2 cup of water.
*COVER with lid. Cook on HIGH 3 to 4 hours (or on LOW 5 to 6 hours).

*Serve in bowl or mug with cheese and oyster crackers, A Tablespoon of fat-free sour cream, Chopped Onions, or serve with some home made cornbread.

Today’s Menu: Buffalo Cheese Burger w/ Baked Fries

 

 

Just a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea for Breakfast. 35 degrees and mostly cloudy out today. ! Went to McDonald’s and picked up Breakfast for Mom. Then I headed back out to Menard’s, they had some items on sale that I wanted. Still looking for a good battery powered weed whacker and hedge trimmer. Back home I prep my 3 Bean Turkey Chili. Had it all done so I went ahead and prepared it. Chili is always better after setting for a day anyway. So it’s Chili tomorrow and a Burger tonight. For Dinner tonight I prepared a 4 oz. Buffalo Cheese Burger and Baked Fries.

 

As always when it’s a Buffalo Burger I’m using the Wild Idea Buffalo Burger Patties. But this time I’m trying the new 4 oz. Possible Burger. Same great taste and quality but these are 4 oz. Just love all the Buffalo Burgers; meaty, juicy and just flat out delicious! Preheated up a skillet that I sprayed with Pam Cooking Spray and 1/2 tablespoon of Extra Light Olive Oil, seasoned my Burger with the Wild Idea Omnivore Salt. I then pan fried it about 3 minutes per side, and done. After I flipped the Burger I added a slice of Kraft Deli Style Sharp Cheddar Cheese. I’m serving it on a Healthy Life Wheat Hamburger Bun. These smaller Burgers seem even juicer!

 

I also baked some Ore Ida Crinkle Cut Fries, served these with a side of Hunt’s Ketchup for dipping. For Dessert/Snack later a 100 Calorie Mini Bag of Snyder’s of Mini Pretzels along with a Coke Zero to drink.

Today’s Menu: Baked Chili and Cheese Nachos

 

For Breakfast this morning I lightly fried some Turkey Spam, had a Sunny Side Up Egg, toasted a couple of slices of Aunt Millie’s Light Whole Grain Bread and had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. It’s one cold morning out there today! The temperature was at 9 degrees and the wind chill was Below Zero! 23 for a high and sunny, but the winds kept it in the single digits. Good day to stay in. Just did a few chores around the house and then relaxed and watched a few shows I had recorded. For Dinner tonight a real Comfort Food and Mom’s favorite, Baked Chili and Cheese Nachos.

 

So Mom loves Baked Chili and Cheese Nachos, as I do! So Nachos it is tonight! To make them I’ll need: Tostitos Multi Grain Scoops for my Chips. I love these with Salsa or just as a snack, they bake and hold their shape better than most chips. For my toppings I used 1 can of Mario Sliced Black Olives, sliced up some Green Olives, Mezzetta Deli Sliced Jalapeno Peppers, Hormel Turkey Chili with Beans, a few shakes (or more) of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, and Sargento Reduced Fat Mozzarella. Put all that together and it’s nothing but good Nachos! I especially love the Jalapenos, nice mild heat!

 

To prepare I preheated the oven at 400 degrees and sprayed a glass baking dish with Pam and layer everything in. I first opened up 2 cans of the Hormel Chili with Beans and heated them up in a sauce pan, as it was heating I added about 6 shakes of Frank’s Hot Sauce to it and mixed. After the Chili was ready I added 4 tablespoons of Chili to the baking dish, then I added my Scoops (Chips). I then added the Sliced Black Olives and Sliced Green Olives, the remainder of the Chili, Sliced Jalapeno Peppers (Love These), and then top everything the Cheese. Then just pop it in the oven 10 minutes or until the Cheese had started to melt and everything heated. We love Nachos, nothing better than a big plate of Chili Cheese Nachos! For Dessert/Snack later a 100 Calorie Mini Bag of Snyder’s Pretzels with a Sprite Zero to drink.

Stove top: empty chili into saucepan. Stir occasionally while heating over medium heat, about 5 minutes or until hot. Microwave: empty chili into microwaveable bowl; cover loosely. Today’s Menu: Turkey Frank Cincinnati Style Cheese Coneys

 

For Breakfast this morning I prepared a Diced Potatoes and Ham Skillet for Breakfast. I used 1 package of Simply Potatoes Steakhouse Seasoned Diced Potatoes and a package of Meijer Diced Ham to prepare it. Just cook the Potatoes according to the package instructions and with about 5 minutes of cooking time left add the Diced Ham. I topped it with a sprinkle of Sargento Off the Block Sharp Cheddar Cheese. I also had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Snow Showers and Light Rain out today, high of 35 degrees. Cleaned and straightened the pantry and both freezers today. For Dinner tonight I prepared Turkey Frank Cincinnati Style Cheese Coneys.

 

We love our Cheese Coneys around here! Living here all my life here in Cincinnati you are raised on Cheese Coneys and Chili! I used Ball Park Smoked White Meat Turkey Franks, an excellent Turkey Frank! I boiled them, it took about 5 minutes and they were ready, plump, and delicious. Plus they are lower in calories and carbs than most other Hot Dogs, 45 calories and 5 carbs!

 

I heated a can of Skyline Chili with Beans for my topping. We prefer the Chili with Beans over the Chili with no Beans. It just gives the Coneys even more flavor with the added Beans! I served everything on a Healthy Life Wheat Hot Dog Buns. Put the Frank in the Bun then topped it with French’s Yellow Mustard, the Chili, and Sargento Reduced Fat Sharp Cheddar Shredded Cheese. Had a small side of some Skyline Oyster Crackers with a few drops of Frank’s Hot Sauce on them, which is a common way to have them here in the Cincinnati area. We love our Chili, Chili Dogs, Chili Spaghetti, and Hot Sauce here in the Cincinnati area. For Dessert/Snack later a 100 Calorie Mini Bag of Snyder’s Pretzels with a Diet Peach Snapple to drink.

Today’s Menu: Creamy Tomato Soup w/ Grilled Cheese Sandwich

 

 

For Breakfast this morning I had a toasted Thomas Light English Muffin that I topped with Smucker’s Sugar Free Blackberry Jam and I heated up a couple of Johnsonville Turkey Breakfast Sausages. I also had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Today it was miserable out. High of 48 degrees, gloomy, cloudy, and rainy all day! A good day to stay in and do nothing all day! And that’s what I did, a huge slug all day! And nothing sounded good for Dinner so I went to a Classic Comfort Food Dish, Creamy Tomato Soup w/ Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

 

I wanted something light tonight, too lazy to cook, so what better than Creamy Tomato Soup with a Grilled Cheese Sandwich. I heated up a can of Amy’s Organic Creamy Tomato Soup. My favorite Tomato Soup by far. I’ve been using for quite some time now. So creamy with a fantastic flavor and it’s 110 calories and 19 carbs. Just empty the contents into a small sauce pan and heat on medium, stirring often, until heated. And it’s ready to go and so good!

 

Then for my Grilled Cheese I’ll be using; Kraft Deli Deluxe Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Blue Bonnet Light Butter, and Aunt Millie’s Light Whole Grain Bread. I started by buttering the outside half of a slice of bread. Layered 2 slices of the Sharp Cheddar on top. Added my top half of the sliced bread, buttering the outside of the slice. I then got out a skillet, heated it up on medium heat and lightly coated it with a 1/2 pat of Butter. When the Butter was melted I added my sandwich. Grilled it on both sides until it was golden brown and the Cheese melted. For Dessert later a Jello Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Pudding.
