A commercially produced sandwich bread

Sandwich bread (also referred to as sandwich loaf) is bread that is prepared specifically to be used for the preparation of sandwiches. Sandwich breads are produced in many varieties, such as white, whole wheat, sourdough, rye, multigrain and others. Sandwich bread may be formulated to slice easily, cleanly or uniformly, and may have a fine crumb (the soft, inner part of bread) and a light texture. Sandwich bread may be designed to have a balanced proportion of crumb and crust, whereby the bread holds and supports fillings in place and reduces drips and messiness. Some may be designed to not become crumbly, hardened, dried or have too squishy a texture. Sandwich bread can refer to cross-sectionally square, sliced white and wheat bread, which has been described as “perfectly designed for holding square luncheon meat”. The bread used for preparing finger sandwiches is sometimes referred to as sandwich bread. Pain de mie is a sandwich loaf. Some sandwich breads are designed for use in the creation of specific types of sandwiches, such as the submarine sandwich. For barbecuing, use of a high-quality white sandwich bread has been described as suitable for toasting over a fire. Gluten-free sandwich bread may be prepared using gluten-free flour, teff flour, and other ingredients.

 

 

In the 1930s in the United States, the term sandwich loaf referred to sliced bread. In contemporary times, U.S. consumers sometimes refer to white bread such as Wonder Bread as sandwich bread and sandwich loaf. Wonder Bread produced and marketed a bread called Wonder Round sandwich bread, which was designed to be used with round-shaped cold cuts and other fillings such as eggs and hamburgers, but it was discontinued due to low consumer demand. American sandwich breads have historically included some fat derived from the use of milk or oil to enrich the bread.

 

Sliced white bread

Some companies and restaurants, such as Subway, bake bread that is specifically used for the preparation of sandwiches. Pepperidge Farm produces breads designed and marketed to be used in sandwich preparation. Nature’s Pride is another brand that has produced sandwich bread. Bonn Group of Industries, a food company based in Ludhiana Punjab, India, produces a product called Super Sandwich Bread. Some supermarket chains, such as H-E-B, produce their own store brands of sandwich bread. Some mass-produced sandwich breads are sliced before being packaged, while others are packaged unsliced. Some companies, such as Nissen, also produce sandwich rolls.

 

 

In 2012, the New Jersey State Fair/Sussex County Farm and Horse Show held The Fleischmann’s yeast “Sensational Sandwich Bread” contest, in which contestants submitted their homemade sandwich bread prepared using Fleischmann’s Yeast. Breads were judged under the criteria of appearance, flavor, texture, sandwich filling and creativity. The contest included cash prizes and state and national grand-prize winners.

Today’s Menu: Sliced Cumin Spiced Pork Tenderloin Sandwich w/ Baked Steak Fries

 

Sliced Cumin Spiced Pork Tenderloin Sandwich 007
A cool morning, but another beautiful Spring Day out. The outside work is continuing today, still working on the wooden deck. Did a load of laundry and few household chores. After everything was done headed outside and got the 4 wheel cart out for a while, enjoying all this sunshine! I grabbed a Pork Tenderloin from the freezer and let it thaw in the fridge overnight. Dinner tonight is a Sliced Cumin Spiced Pork Tenderloin Sandwich w/ Baked Steak Fries.

 

 
I’m using my favorite rub for Pork, the Cumin Spiced Rub. I purchased a few of the Simple Truth Pork Tenderloin cumin-spiced-pork-roast-2from Kroger and have them in the freezer. To prepare it I’ll need; 1 Pork Tenderloin, 1 tbsp Roasted Cumin, 1 tsp Garlic Powder, 1 tsp Chili Powder, 1 teaspoon Sea Salt, 1/2 teaspoon Hungarian Paprika, 2 teaspoons Dried Oregano, and 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper. To prepare it preheat oven to 350°. Combine all the ingredients; rub it all over the pork. Let stand 20 minutes. Heat the oil in a Cast Iron Skillet over medium-high heat. Add pork to pan; cook 4 minutes, browning on all sides. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until a thermometer registers 145° (slightly pink), turning after 7 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before slicing. Then get ready to enjoy one delicious Pork Tenderloin! Fantastic combo of Spices, which made one incredible Crust on the Pork with the inside being tender and moist! I let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing, to cool somewhat and let the juices marinate back into the Tenderloin. Leave the oven on so you can bake your sandwich.

 

Grabbed a knife and sharpened it up real good before using. I sliced up the entire Tenderloin, enough for my Sliced Cumin Spiced Pork Tenderloin Sandwich 002dinner tonight and a couple of sandwiches for lunch. I sliced it fairly thin, it’s just incredibly moist. After slicing it up I got a Perfection Deli Mini Sub Wheat Bun, Kraft Reduced Fat Mayo w/ Olive Oil, and a slice of Simple Truth Muenster Cheese. Built my sandwich by first laying the slice of Cheese, then the sliced Pork, and topped it with the Mayo. The oven was still on from roasting the Pork Tenderloin. Laid the sandwich on a small baking sheet, open-faced, and baked until heated through and the Cheese was melting. I love using Muenster Cheese when it’s used a topping on baked sandwiches, melts perfect and retains its full flavor. What a Sandwich! Moist and flavorful, the Cumin Spiced Rub gives the Pork a fantastic crust.

 

 

Then for a side dish I Baked some Ore Ida Steak Fries, perfect Fries for any Sandwich. Got to Love It! For dessert later a Healthy Choice Dark Fudge Swirl Frozen Greek Yogurt.

Went to the store and bank early, before the rain moved in. Then it was a day of cleaning. We have a walk-in closet that was packed full of basically junk. So that took up all afternoon. 1 more junk closet to go. For dinner tonight, BBQ Pulled Chicken Breast Pita Bread Pizza.

 

 

 

 

BBQ Chicken Pita Pizzas 005

Just add the Cheese and ready for the oven!

Pizza, Pizza, tonight for dinner! I used the leftover PERDUE OVEN READY Whole Seasoned Roaster Bone-In Breast, from dinner 2 nights ago. We had quite a bit of it leftover so we’ll get a couple of Pizzas and Chicken Sandwiches out of it. I pulled the Breast Meat apart and took enough to make 2 small Pita Bread Pizzas out of it. Covered it in a bowl and reheated it in the microwave. I used a Joseph’s Oat Bran and Stone Ground Whole Wheat Pita Bread for my Pizza Bread. I love using Joseph’s pita Breads, always fresh and they’re only 60 calories, 1.5 grams fat, and 5 net carbs! Then along with the Pulled Chicken for toppings I used; Sliced Green and Black Olives, Sargento Reduced Fat Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, Sliced Mushrooms, and instead of normal Pizza Sauce I used JB’s Sticky Stuff BBQ Sauce. If you’ve never had this Sauce you have to give it a try! For dessert later a Jello Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Pudding

I preheated the oven on 400 degrees. To bake the Pizza I used a large Cookie Sheet. To prepare them I brushed them with a light coat of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the coating of Oil browns it up just right. I then baked it for 5 minutes, just to brown it up a bit. Removed them from the oven and made my Pizzas. I put a layer of the Sticky Stuff BBQ Sauce, added the Chicken, the Olives, Mushrooms, and topped it with Shredded Mozzarella Cheese. It took less than 10 minutes in the oven until everything heated up and the Cheese melted.Pizza is served! The Pita Bread makes one fine Pizza, along with the Chicken and JB’s Sticky Stuff BBQ Sauce. Delicious! For dessert later a Jello Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Pudding.
