Today’s Menu: Chili and Cheese Coneys!

Chili and Cheese Coneys 008
Only about 40 degrees this morning, Spring time? The high for the day wasn’t much higher and there was a cold breeze blowing all day. But 70’s and 80’s coming the upcoming week. Ran Mom around for a few errands and home. For dinner tonight, nothing but comfort food! Tonight it’s Chili and Cheese Coneys!

I used Oscar Mayer Extra Lean Turkey Franks. Just boiled them for 5 minutes and they were ready. A very lean Hot Dog, only 50 calories and 4 carbs per Hot Dog. Then for the Chili I used Hormel Turkey Chili with Beans. One of the best canned Chilis there is, in my opinion. It’s a nice thick Chili and seasoned just right with plenty of Beans. Emptied the can into a small sauce pan and heated it up for about 10 minutes or so. I did add a few shakes of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce to the Chili as it was heating up.

Pillsbury Nut Quick Bread 001

Served everything on a Healthy Life Whole Grain Hot Dog Bun. Topped the Dog with French’s Yellow Mustard, Sargento Reduced Fat Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese, and then the Chili and they were ready to go! Nothing better than a couple of Cincinnati Style Chili and Cheese Coneys for dinner! For dessert later, I had baked some Pillsbury Nut Quick Bread. Instead of adding 2 Eggs to the batter I used Egg Beaters, 2 Eggs (Medium size) is 140 calories while 2 servings of Egg Beaters is only 50 calories. So I’ll have a slice of the Nut Quick Bread topped with a scoop of Breyer’s Carb Smart Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

Today’s Menu: Skyline Chili and Spaghetti – 3 Way w/ Chili and Cheese Coney

Skyline 3 Way Coney 003

Welcome back to the still frozen tundra of West Chester, Ohio! I’ll be glad when this deep freeze passes, they say one more day of below zero and by Thursday a balmy 25 degrees, you have to start somewhere! I got my Mom’s car repaired and now I think the weather has taken a toll on mine, it will be in the shop some time this week. For dinner a cold winter’s day classic, Skyline Chili and Spaghetti – 3 Way w/ Chili and Cheese Coney! What better way to heat it up a bit.

skyline-chili-spaghetti-hot-dog-002
I used Skyline 3 Way – Chili, Spaghetti. They sell it packaged for the microwave, a bit smaller size than what you get at a Skyline but just right for those still watching calories and carbs. It comes with Spaghetti topped with Skyline Chili. I added a few dashes of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce and Cheese to make it a 3 Way and used Sargento Reduced Fat Shredded Sharp Cheese. The Chili Spaghetti is 270 calories and 20 carbs.

Then I also prepared an Oscar Mayer Extra Lean Turkey Franks, my new choice of Hot Dogs. Just boiled them for 5 minutes and they were ready. Opened a small can of Skyline Chili and heated it up, for topping for the Hot Dog. Served on a Aunt Millie’s Reduced Calorie Hot Dog Bun and topped with Skyline Chili, French’s Yellow Mustard and Sargento Reduced Fat Shredded Sharp Cheddar. For a dessert/snack later a 100 Calorie Mini Bag of Jolly Time Pop Corn.

Today’s Menu: Buffalo Chili Turkey Dogs3Bean Chili Turkey Franks 004

This morning was our first day in the 30’s, 38 degrees, in quite sometime. It was 38 but it felt good out this morning, I love the Fall! Back into the 80’s next week though. What better to have a crisp sunny day while watching a day of College Football than Cheese Coneys, Buffalo Chili Turkey Dogs.

I used the 3 Bean Buffalo Chili I had leftover from the other night for the Chili, I had a lot leftover so most of it went to the freezer. I then used Oscar Mayer Extra Lean Turkey Franks, my new choice of Hot Dogs. I warmed the Chili up and boiled my Turkey Franks, about 5 minutes in boiling water. I served it on a Healthy Life Whole Grain Hot Dog Bun, topped with French’s Yellow Mustard, the Buffalo Chili, and Sargento Reduced Fat Shredded Sharp Cheddar. Now that’s a Chili Dog!! Great taste in every bite as the 5 ingredients all come together! To add a little crunch I had a half serving of Ruffle’s Reduced Fat Potato Chips and an ice-cold Diet Dr. Pepper. For dessert later I had a bowl of sliced up some fresh Peaches I had bought earlier in the week.

While at Walmart the other day I wanted to buy a package of Ball Park Smoked White Turkey Franks but they were out of stock on it, or they failed to restock it, so I picked up a package of Oscar Mayer Extra Lean Turkey Franks. And now the rest is history! Oscar Mayer’s are hands down the better Turkey Frank! When you prepare them their plumper and tastier and just an all-around better Frank. So Ball Park “your out of here!”

Woke up starving this morning! Nothing better than a Full House Breakfast to stop that hunger. I prepared some Simply Potatoes Hash Browns. I always like mine golden brown but not crisp or burnt. I then topped them with some fresh grated Smoked Dutch Gouda, I love Gouda on anything!  While the Hash Browns were cooking in another skillet I fried 3 slices of Jennie – O Turkey Bacon. I switched over to Jennie – O Turkey Bacon from Oscar Mayer a while back. Jennie -O fries up a lot crisper and 15 fewer calories for 3 slices. Finally as the hash Browns and Bacon was done I used the Hash Brown skillet to fry an Egg Sunnyside Up. Seasoned with Sea Salt and Ground Black Pepper, I also poured just a bit of Extra Virgin Olive Oil on top of the Yolk. The Olive Oil assures that the Yolk gets done also and provides a great added flavor. While the Egg was finishing I toasted 2 slices of Healthy Life Whole Grain Bread topped with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter. Breakfast, Morning Paper, Green Tea, ready for the day!

A beautiful morning is slowly turning to a humid afternoon outside. Prepared a light lunch, Ham & Turkey on Whole Wheat Sandwich. I used a 1/2 serving of Oscar Mayer Carverboard Sliced Turkey along with a 1/2 serving of Kroger Brand Private Selection Sliced Ham. Topped with Lettuce, a slice of Private Selection Buffalo Monterey/Jack Cheese, and French’s Yellow Mustard. Served it all on Healthy Life Whole Grain Bread. Big sandwich, few calories and carbs. About 220 calories and 18 carbs.

An easy made and healthy lunch. Heated up my Panini Grill and made a Ham & Turkey and Swiss Panini. I used a half serving Oscar Mayer Carver Board Sliced Turkey Breast, a full serving of thin sliced Ham, a slice of Sargento Ultra Thin Swiss Cheese, and a Flatout Whole Wheat Flatbread. I also added French’s Mustard to top it. All for under 250 calories and made in about 15 minutes!

Today’s Menu: Grilled Ham and Cheese w/ Tomato Soup

It was comfort food at for dinner tonight! Grilled Ham & Salame and Cheese and a bowl of Tomato Soup! For my sandwich I used Oscar Mayer Carver Board Ham and for the Cheese something new, Buffalo Monterey Jack! I ran across it at Kroger and it’s a Kroger Brand; Private Selection. It sounded good and tasted even better! It’s got a hint of the Buffalo Heat and coupled with the Monterey/Jack it’s fantastic. Topped it with some Kraft Reduced Fat Mayo w/ Olive Oil. I served it on Healthy Life Whole Grain Bread. I buttered the outside of each slice of bread with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter and grilled the sandwich browning both sides. I Love all the different types of Grilled Cheese and the different ways and toppings are endless. The ham, salame, and Buffalo Mont./Jack is a great trio!

For the soup I used Amy’s Organic Light in Sodium – Cream of Tomato Soup which has been my Tomato Soup of choice lately. Not only great tasting but it’s only 110 calories and 19 carbs! I left the Soup info and description at the end of the post. For dessert later a Jello Sugar free Chocolate Pudding topped with Cool Whip Free.

It Was Early Morning Yesterday I Was Up Before The Dawn! Rocking to some classic Super Tramp this morning while making breakfast. I’m not sure if it was my attempts at singing or the smell of crisp Turkey Bacon frying that woke everyone up this morning!

I started my day off with a delicious, healthy, and low carb breakfast. I made Pancakes using New Hope Mills Pancake Mix, only 200 calories and 6 carbs per serving. A serving is a 1/2 cup of pancake mix which you can make into 3 – 4 pancakes. I topped it with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter and Joseph’s Sugar Free Maple Flavored Syrup. The Syrup is 35 calories and 9 carbs per serving, a serving is 1/4 cup. I had a side of 3 strips of Oscar Mayer Low Sodium Turkey Bacon which is 35 calories per slice. A great and healthy way to start the day!

Woke up hungry and ready to eat this morning. So I put together a filling and healthy breakfast. I had French Toast w/ Turkey Bacon. I used a flat griddle pan to make everything. I used Oscar Mayer Low Sodium Turkey Bacon and for the toast I used Healthy Life Whole Grain Bread. I then used 2 servings of Egg Beaters and added Ground Cinnamon and Nutmeg and mixed well. I dipped 2 slices of bread in the mixture, coating on both sides. I started grilling the Bacon first and then added the toast after flipping the Bacon, this way they were both done at the same time. I topped the French Toast with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter and Joseph’s Sugar Free Maple Syrup. I love this Syrup tastes just as good as Syrup with all the Sugar. A serving which is a 1/4 Cup is only 35 calories and 9 carbs! I order the Syrup on-line from josephslitecookies.com  They have a great selection of sugarless products check it out sometime. Love starting the day off with a great Breakfast!
