Wax on, wax off………….

Lemon are often waxed so scrub the peel thoroughly under hot water to remove wax before zesting/ grating.

What’s missing…………

If a dish is lacking flavor and you can’t figure out what it is missing, a squeeze of lemon juice or lime juice works wonders. You can use them in everything from meats, vegetables, soup, and salsa.

Citruses are a natural taste enhancer and a good way to add a zest of vitamin C in your diet. For example, you can garnish your veggie rices or quinoa pilaffs with a lemon slice; and your Thai or Vietnamese soups and chili sin carne with lime.

Cleaning your microwave……..

Microwave need cleaning? Simply cut a lemon in half and squeeze some of the juice into a microwavable bowl that is half filled with water. Put the two halves of the lemon in the bowl with the water and juice and microwave it on high power for three minutes.

Remove the bowl and unplug your microwave. Use paper towels to wipe away dirt and grime. Clean Microwave!

Kaffir Lime and Honey Cranberry Sauce
Cinnamon, honey and citrus bring out the best in this cranberry sauce.

INGREDIENTS

2 oranges
2 lemons
2 limes
2 (12-ounce) bags fresh or frozen cranberries
2 cups honey
4 sprigs kaffir lime leaves
2 cinnamon sticks

DIRECTIONS

Remove peel from oranges, lemons and limes. Mince peel. Juice fruit. In large saucepan, combine cranberries, fruit juices, peel, honey, lime leaves and cinnamon sticks. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to medium. Cook 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
Store in refrigerator. Remove lime leaves and cinnamon sticks before serving.

Save the lemons……..

When you have excess lemons, freeze lemon juice in ice cube trays and use it whenever needed in your recipes. It stays good for 15-20 days.
