Traditional Turkey Sloppy Joes

Enjoy traditional Sloppy Joes with a delicious twist—as this recipe replaces classic ground beef with lean ground turkey. Bonus? You can get this easy meal on the table in less than 30 minutes.

INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 (16-ounce) package JENNIE-O® Lean Ground Turkey
1 small onion, chopped
½ cup bell pepper, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon tomato paste
¾ teaspoon salt, if desired
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
5 hamburger buns, split and toasted

DIRECTIONS

1) Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Cook ground turkey as specified on the package. Always cook to well-done, 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer. Add onion, bell pepper and garlic; cook 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2) Add tomato sauce, Worcestershire, tomato paste, salt and pepper. Simmer uncovered 10 to 15 minutes or until sauce thickens. Spoon mixture onto bottom of rolls; close with roll tops.
* Always cook to an internal temperature of 165°F.

Spinach and Red Pepper Turkey Pizza
Adventurous yet tasty, this rustic pizza topped with spinach and roasted pine nuts is a must-try recipe. At under 500 calories per serving, it’s a lean and delicious weeknight dinner that takes less than an hour to make.

INGREDIENTS
1 (16-ounce) package JENNIE-O® Extra Lean Ground Turkey Breast
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 medium onion, sliced
1 red pepper, sliced
1 clove garlic, minced
2 teaspoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 cup fresh spinach, trimmed, rinsed and well drained
1 (6.5-ounce) package pizza crust mix
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup pine nuts, if desired

DIRECTIONS
1) Heat oven to 400ºF. Cook turkey as specified on the package. Always cook to well-done, 165ºF as measured by a meat thermometer; set aside.
2) In skillet over medium heat, add oil, onion, red pepper, garlic and soy sauce. Cook 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally.
3) Add spinach and cook until wilted; remove from heat.
4) Prepare pizza crust according to package directions; pat dough evenly in pizza pan. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Spread turkey and onion mixture over cheese. Sprinkle with pine nuts, if desired. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until crust is browned.
* Always cook to an internal temperature of 165°F.

Ingredients
1 (12-ounce) package JENNIE-O® Lean Turkey Breakfast Sausage Patties
1 tablespoon butter
¼ cup minced onion
1½ cups egg substitute or 6 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
6 English muffins or biscuits, split
6 slices low-sodium American cheese

Directions
1) Cook turkey sausage as specified on the package. Always cook to well-done, 165°F. as measured by a meat thermometer. In skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add onion and cook 2 to 3 minutes or until softned.

2) In medium bowl, combine eggs and milk; whisk until smooth. Add eggs to skillet and cook on low heat until done, stirring to cook evenly.

3) Place egg mixture on muffin or biscuit half. Top with cheese, sausage patties and muffin top.
* Always cook to an internal temperature of 165°F.

Honey Glazed Turkey
This easy glazed turkey recipe serves as both a sweet and savory entrée for your Easter dinner.

INGREDIENTS
1 (12 to 18-pound) JENNIE-O® Whole Turkey, neck and giblets removed
1 cup honey
½ cup butter, melted
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
2 teaspoons dried sage leaves
1 teaspoon minced fresh rosemary
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper

DIRECTIONS
1) Prepare turkey according to package directions.
2) Meanwhile, in small bowl, stir together honey, melted butter, parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, salt and pepper.
3) After turkey has roasted 2 hours, brush honey glaze mixture over turkey. Continue to brush turkey with honey glaze mixture. Roast until timer pops up and turkey is fully-cooked, 180°F as measued by a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh. Always confirm doneness with a meat thermometer. Juices should run clear. Let turkey stand 20 minutes before carving.

1 tablespoon paprika
1½ teaspoons onion powder

2 tablespoons butter
¾ cup reduced sodium chicken broth
6 whole wheat buns, split

Preheat combination oven to 320°F. Remove from package and place turkey skin side up in medium shallow baking pan. Add 1/2 cup water to the pan. Cook until internal temperature reaches 165°F. Verify 165°F. internal temperature as measured by a meat thermometer in the thickest part of the meat. Remove pot roast from oven. Using tongs, separate into two units. Transfer each unit into a rotisserie dome.

Preheat rotisserie oven to 325°F. Remove from package and place turkey skin side up in medium shallow baking pan. Place in sprayed rotisserie baskets. Cook until internal temperature reaches 165°F. Verify 165°F. internal temperature as measured by a meat thermometer in the thickest part of the meat. Remove pot roast from oven. Using tongs, separate into two units. ½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 (8-ounce) package shredded lettuce

DIRECTIONS

2) To make lime yogurt topping, combine yogurt, lime juice, zest, honey, parsley and salt and pepper, if desired; whisk until smooth.

If you haven’t had turkey tacos with fresh, homemade pico de gallo, do yourself a favor tonight and whip up this quick and simple Mexican recipe. Kid-friendly and under 300 calories per serving!

INGREDIENTS
½ cup fat-free sour cream
1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce
1 (16-ounce) package JENNIE-O® Lean Ground Turkey
1 (1.25-ounce) taco seasoning mix
½ cup water

PICO DE GALLO
1 cup chopped plum tomatoes
¼ cup chopped white onion
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves
1 jalapeno, diced
2 tablespoons lime juice
salt and freshly ground pepper, if desired
12 soft taco-size tortillas
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 cup shredded Cheddar jack cheese

DIRECTIONS
1) In blender or food processor, combine sour cream and chipotle pepper in adobo sauce. Blend until combined. Set aside.
2) In large skillet, cook turkey as specified on the package. Always cook to well-done, 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer. Add taco seasoning mix and water. Cook until water is evaporated, stirring occasionally.
3) To make the pico de gallo, combine tomatoes, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, lime juice, salt and freshly ground pepper, if desired.
4) Spread each taco shell with sour cream mixture. Fill tacos with lettuce, turkey, pico de gallo and cheese.

INGREDIENTS
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup rice vinegar
1 tablespoon fish sauce
¼ cup jalapeno, thinly sliced
¼ cup radish, thinly sliced
⅓ cucumber, thinly sliced
½ cup shredded carrots
⅓ cup fat-free mayonnaise
8 soft taco-size (6-inch) flour tortillas
2 cups shredded JENNIE-O® Slow Roasted Dark Turkey
lime wedges, if desired

DIRECTIONS
1) In small saucepan, over medium heat, combine sugar, vinegar and fish sauce. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Simmer, without stirring, 3 minutes. Remove from heat; let cool.
2) In medium bowl, toss cooled vinegar mixture with jalapenos, radish, cucumber and carrots; set aside.
3) Spread mayonnaise on each tortilla. Add turkey. Top with vegetable mixture. Serve with lime wedges, if desired.
