Easiest Thanksgiving Turkey
If everything about the holidays were as easy as this delicious turkey recipe, we’d have a lot to be thankful for! 10-minute prep with a lemon, garlic and rosemary baste.

INGREDIENTS
1 (11-13 pound) JENNIE-O® OVEN READY™ Whole Turkey
¼ cup butter
1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary

DIRECTIONS
1) Heat oven to 375°F.
2) From frozen, cook turkey as specified on the package. Always cook turkey to well done, 165°F in the breast and 180°F in the thigh, as measured by a meat thermometer.
3) Melt butter in a small saucepan. Add lemon peel, garlic and rosemary. Cook over medium-low heat for two to three minutes or until fragrant.
4) Cut slit in bag and brush with butter mixture. Bake additional 5 minutes. Let turkey stand 20 minutes before carving.
* Always cook to an internal temperature of 165°F.

First a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! It’s been a mostly cloudy day around here, high in the 50’s. The finger I had surgery on is looking good, go next week to have the stitches removed. Not a lot going on today. It was just me, Mom, and Dad for Thanksgiving Dinner with others stopping by later in the day and evening. Spent the day as Mom’s sous chef, she wanted to make dinner. For dinner tonight it’s Thanksgiving Dinner!

We got the Jennie – O OVEN READY™ Whole Turkey out of the freezer and into the oven today! Jennie – O sent me this 13 lb. Bird about a month ago and we’ve been waiting to break it out! Jennie sends me one every year for being a member of their Switch Club, so a big thank you again to Jennie – O Turkey!

 

 
It couldn’t be any easier to prepare the Turkey. It goes straight from the freezer into the oven. It comes in a Oven Ready Bag. Preheat the oven on 375°F. Just remove it from the outer package, but leaving it in the cooking bag. Make a few of slits in the bag, place in the roasting pan, and your set. Then roast the Turkey until a meat thermometer reaches 165°F. in the breast and 180°F. in the thigh, about 4 hours. Let it rest out of the oven for 15 minutes and then let the feast begin! The Turkey, as always, came out mouth-watering delicious! Fantastic flavor, moist, juicy, and it browns up perfectly in the heating bag. So thank you agin to Jennie – O for our free Turkey! Below is the rest of our Thanksgiving Menu, my Mom went over board again but she loves making Thanksgiving dinner. I kept an eye on the Bird and helped and Mom out. Enjoy everyone!

Leftover Thanksgiving Turkey SandwichLeftover Thanksgiving Turkey Sandwich

Create flavorful turkey-cranberry-salad sandwiches to breathe new life into yesterday’s leftover turkey, relish and rolls.

 

 

INGREDIENTS
4 cups chopped leftover JENNIE-O® OVEN READY™ Whole Turkey

½ cup chopped celery

¼ cup chopped green onions

⅓ cup chipotle mayonnaise

¼ teaspoon freshly ground pepper

8 rolls, split

8 leaves lettuce

DIRECTIONS
* In medium bowl, combine turkey, celery, onion, mayonnaise and pepper. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour or overnight.

* On roll bottom, add lettuce and top with turkey mixture and roll top.

About 10:45 this morning a FedEx truck pulled up in front of the house. I didn’t remember ordering anything, so I was curious to see what was in the big box the driver was bringing up to the door. As the driver handed me the box I seen the familiar Jennie – O Turkey colors on the box so I knew Jennie – O had sent me something. I could tell what it was right away because the box was heavy! Sure enough Jennie O had sent me a 13.2 lb. OVEN READY™ Whole Turkey! I believe this is the 3rd or 4th year in a row I have received a free Turkey for Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful day. Well I’ve been taking care of my parents the last few days, both have the flu that’s been going around. Now, I have it! It was bound to happen and I rarely get the flu, but I have it now. All you can do is work through it! For Dinner Tonight, Thanksgiving Dinner.

Last month I had posted that Jennie -O had sent me a free 12 – 13 lb. Jennie – O Oven Ready Whole Turkey, and today we put that Bird to use! It goes straight from your freezer to the oven, no thawing needed! How easy is this! It comes sealed in a Fool Proof Cooking Bag. Start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees. Just place it in a roasting pan, put 6 – 1/2″ slits in the top of the bag, and let that Bird Roast. Roast the turkey until a meat thermometer inserted into the center of the breast reaches 170°F, it also has a Pop -Up Thermometer inserted in it. When it was done I let the Turkey rest for 15 minutes. What a Turkey! Seasoned perfectly, moist, and just bursting with flavor! Thanks again to Jennie – O Turkey!

For sides we used Bob Evan’s Mashed Potatoes, Deviled Eggs, Baked Sweet Potatoes, home canned Green Beans, and I heated up some rolls for Mom and Dad. For dessert later Mom had baked an Apple Pie and also a Chocolate Pie, using Splenda Sugar. Again hope all of you had a fantastic Thanksgiving, take care!

Last night I was just talking to my Mom about getting a Turkey for the upcoming Thanksgiving. Then about 9:30 this morning a delivery driver pulled up, as he walked by the dining room window I could tell he was carrying a heavy box. I answered the knock and he said I better bring this in for you it’s a heavy one. I thanked him and I seen on the label on the familiar white delivery box it was from Jennie – O Turkey. Opened it up and Bam our Thanksgiving Turkey was here!
