Today’s Menu: Homestyle Shrimp and Gator Nuggets w/ Baked Potato

 

Shrimp and Gator meat for dinner tonight! For the Shrimp I used Gorton’s Homestyle Shrimp. Easy to prepare just bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes and you have some hot and delicious Shrimp! It’s 240 calories and 19 carbs per serving. I left the product info at the end of the post.

I purchased the Gator on line from http://www.cajungrocer.com/ I purchased the Alligator Nuggets – BREADED 2 Pound bag. To prepare it I fried the Gator in Extra Virgin Olive Oil about 4 minutes per side. The breading is fantastic! It’s a thin breading and it fries up golden brown and the seasoning is perfect on it. It’s spicy with a hint of heat but not over powering. I used Heinz Cocktail Sauce for dipping for the Shrimp and Gator both.

For a side I had a baked Potato that I seasoned with Morton’s Salt Substitute and Ground Black Pepper then topped with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter. For dessert later I’ll be trying a new smoothie, Sunrise Growers Pure Fruit Smoothies/Mango Citrus Blast. Just add the frozen pouch along with Fat Free Milk, and Fat Free Plain Yogurt to a blender and mix for 2 minutes. It’s 160 calories and 39 carbs.

Alligator Nuggets – BREADED

Our farm raised alligator nuggets (a.k.a. alligator bites) are breaded or pre battered. Best prepared by deep frying. Enjoy!

Cooking instructions: Fry at 350 for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.

Fried Alligator

Ingredients:

1/2 pound alligator meat, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
Louisiana Fish Fry batter, for coating
Cooking oil, for frying Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Serving suggestions: remoulade, creole mustard, or cocktail sauce

Prepartion:

Fill a deep pot halfway full with oil. Heat to 360 degrees F. Coat the alligator meat with the fish batter. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes, until gator floats in oil. Remove and add salt and pepper to taste. Serve as an appetizer with remoulade sauce, mustard sauce, or cocktail sauce for dipping.

Today’s Menu: Gorton’s Classic Grilled Shrimp w/ Smart One’s Three Cheese Macaroni
Well I don’t think you can make an easier meal than this! I had Gorton’s Classic Grilled Shrimp w/ Smart One’s Macaroni & Cheese. To prepare the Gorton’s Shrimp preheat the oven to 425 degrees and bake for 10 – 11 minutes. That should be your only pan to clean also, a big plus! While the Shrimp is baking you can prepare the Smart One’s Mac & Cheeese. Just peel back the corner of the plastic covering and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Remove and stir the Mac and Cheese, recover and microwave for an addtional 1 minute. It comes in a microwavable plate so you can top with your Shrimp and enjoy dinner! The carbs are a bit high on the Mac & Cheese so I only had a half serving, I saved the other half for lunch tomorrow. These 2 make a great combination for an easy hearty meal. For dessert tonight a bowl of Breyer’s Carb Smart Vanilla Ice Cream topped with some fresh Blueberries.

Today’s Menu: Gorton’s Home Style Baked Shrimp w/ Rice

It was a quick & easy delicious dinner tonight using Gorton’s Home Style Shrimp and Uncle Ben’s Roasted Chicken Flavored Rice With Carrots & Herbs. The Gorton’s Shrimp is very easy to make just bake at 425 degrees for 16 – 20 minutes and you have a great tasting Shrimp dinner. These were the best boxed Shrimp I ever had! Good size, breaded and seasoned just right. They’re 240 calories and only 19 carbs. I left the product description at the bottom of the post. Along with the Shrimp I had Uncle Ben’s Roasted Chicken Flavored Rice With Carrots & Herbs. Another easy fixing it comes in a microwavable cup. Just heat for 60 seconds and serve. For dessert later this evening a Pillsbury Apple Turnover topped  with a scoop of Breyer’s Carb Smart Vanilla Ice Cream.

I was busy all day so I wanted something easy to make. So I tried something new, Gorton’s Home Style Shrimp. Easy to make just bake at 425 degrees for 16 – 20 minutes and you have a great tasting Shrimp dinner. These were the best boxed Shrimp I ever had! Good size, breaded and seasoned just right. They’re 240 calories and only 19 carbs. And what goes better with Shrimp than Mac & Cheese! I used Velveeta/Kraft Shells and Cheese. The Velveeta Shells and Cheese come in a microwavable serving cup and contain 180 calories and 31 carbs. Really a great tasting and cheesy Mac & Cheese, especially for microwave Mac. For dessert/snack late Chip’ins Pop Corn Chips along with Kroger Organic Blackbean & Corn Salsa.

Today’s Menu: Baked Tilapia w/ Shells & Cheese and Whole Grain Bread

Fish and Mac & Cheese! I used Gorton’s Skillet Crisp Tilapia that I baked at 425 degrees for 23 minutes. Gorton‘s has a couple of different types and I had the Lightly Coated Garlic & Herb Seasonings. A really quick and easy way to have some delicious Tilapia. These fillets also make great Fish Sandwiches and they are only 190 calories and 15 carbs per fillet. For my sides I had Kraft/Velveeta Shells and Cheese along with Healthy Life Whole grain Bread. The Shells and Cheese are made with 2% Milk and 1/2 the fat and comes in an individual serving in a microwavable cup. For dessert later a bowl of Breyer’s Carb Smart Vanilla Ice Cream topped with Del Monte No Sugar Added Sliced Peaches.
