German Sausage and Kraut


Came across this low calorie German Sausage and Kraut dish, Enjoy!


5 medium Potatoes, cubed
1 large Yellow Onion, cubed
1/2 Green Bell Pepper
1 can (16 ounces) Sauerkraut
1 pound Reduced Fat Smoked Turkey Sausage, cut into 1-inch slices
1/4 cup Brown Sugar, or Splenda Brown Sugar equivalent
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper


1. Layer Potatoes, Onion, Bell Pepper, and Sauerkrauet in the Crock Pot. Brown Sausage in large skillet over medium high heat. Remove to the Crock Pot using a slotted spoon.

2. Combine Brown Sugar, Garlic Powder, and Black Pepper in a small bowl; stir to combine. Sprinkle evenly over Sausage. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.

1 serving (1-1/4 cups) equals 282 calories, 11 g fat (4 g saturated fat), 41 mg cholesterol, 550 mg sodium, 34 g carbohydrate, 5 g fiber, 13 g protein.
