Stock the freezer …………..

Stock the freezer with frozen vegetables. What happens when the kale has turned, and you don’t have a backup side dish? No need to skip a beat. Open up the freezer and grab some frozen veggies for steaming. It’s simple, fast and healthy.

Freezing Ground Beef………….

Save some money, fill that freezer…….

A full freezer is more economical to run as the cold air doesn’t need to circulate so much, so less power is needed. If you have lots of space free, fill plastic bottles half full with water and use them to fill gaps. Alternatively, fill the freezer with everyday items you’re bound to use.

Organize your freezer……

* Organize your freezer space into food groups: meat, fish, leftovers fruit, and vegetables. Makes for a quick find of what you are looking for instead of a search party.
* Put older packages at the front of the freezer so you can use them first.
* Make sure you label all bags and containers; contents and date frozen.

Thank you to C.C. for passing this hint along……

Full Freezer – If possible, keep your freezer full, since it is not energy efficient to run half empty. Fill large spaces with loaves of bread, or use crumpled newspapers to prevent air from circulating.

Freezer Meal Week!

Starting with today’s dinner, Salmon, for one week it’s Freezer Meal Week! All the meals I prepare for dinner will be coming from the freezer, the entree or main protein at least. My freezer was getting a bit crowded with, sale items I couldn’t pass up, an extra chop, chicken breast, etc.

It starts to pile up quick especially when a lot of times I’m just cooking for myself. So I’ll see what I can come up with this week and clear my freezer out, well at least put a dent in it!
