Mom and Dads T-Bone

Mom and Dads T-Bone

A Happy Father’s Day to my Dad and all the other Fathers out there! Another sunny day out again, bit warmer and more humid though. Went to Jungle Jim’s International Market this morning, they had T-Bones on sale and I wanted to prepare them for Mom and Dad for dinner. I’ve been wanting some BBQ so for my dinner I prepared Montgomery Inn Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich w/ Baked Fries.

Montgomery Inn Pulled Pork BBQ 001

For Mom and Dad I prepared grilled the T-Bone Steaks, Baked Potato, Three Bean Salad, and Baked up some Texas Toast. For my BBQ I used the Montgomery Inn Hardwood Smoked Pulled Pork w/ Barbecue Sauce. Montgomery Inn is one of the original Barbecue and Ribs Restaurant in the Cincinnati area. It has some of the finest food, love them Ribs, anywhere! They also sell their Ribs and Pulled Pork and Chicken at all Kroger. So when it’s Pulled Pork I almost always use the Montgomery Inn brand. Anyway you just heat it in a medium sauce pan until it’s warmed and you have BBQ. It’s the perfect combination of the Pork and the mouth watering Montgomery Inn Sauce that makes this so delicious! Plus it’s only 110 calories and 8 carbs per serving. I served it on an Aunt Millie’s Reduced Calorie Whole Grain Bun. I also baked up some Ore Ida Simply Cracked Black Pepper and Sea Salt Country Style Fries. Served these with a side of Hunt’s Ketchup and also had an Ice-Cold Diet Dr. Pepper. For dessert later a Healthy Choice Dark Fudge Swirl Frozen Yogurt.

Today’s Menu: Baked Chicken Breast Hogie w/ Baked PotatoBaked Chicken Hoagie 002

Well a Happy Father’s Day to all the Fathers out there! A very special Happy Father’s Day to my Dad, who will be 92 later this year! It’s been raining on and off all day so it sort of put a damper on grilling outdoors. So I made dinner indoors preparing a Baked Chicken Breast Hogie w/ a Baked Potato

I used PERDUE PERFECT PORTIONS Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts. Their fresh boneless, skinless individually wrapped chicken breast filets, you can store them in the fridge or freeze them and just grab one from the freezer when your ready. They have a few different kinds, I’ve tried the Italian Style and the Plain, which is what I’m having for dinner. I baked mine, baked it on 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. It came out perfect! Seasoned it with Sea salt and Ground Black Pepper and served on a Kroger Bakery Sub Bun and topped with a slice of Kroger Brand Private Selection Buffalo Monterey Jack Cheese, Monterey with a hint of Buffalo Heat. I also topped it with a bit of Hellman’s Reduced Fat Mayo and Lettuce.

For a side I had a Baked Potato that I seasoned with McCormick Grinder Sea Salt and Black Peppercorn along with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter. For dessert later a Healthy Choice Chocolate Swirl Frozen Yogurt.

Bolivar Strawberry Festival – Bolivar, Ohio June 7-9, 2012

June 7-9, 2012 Bolivar Strawberry Festival – Bolivar, Ohio

Activities include pageants, strawberry eating contest, rides, entertainment, brew tent, crafters, food and the Fireman’s Parade that tops off the festival to make it a “Berry” great experience for the whole family. Father’s day weekend in June each year.

Bolivar Strawberry Festival

From 1974-1980 our little village of Bolivar held a Strawberry Festival downtown on Canal Street (then Central Avenue). The town merchants sponsored this event which, according to the local newspaper, brought in approximately 40,000 people at its highest point.

The Festival started with a Queen’s Ball on Friday night. Each year would bring a new Strawberry Festival Queen at the end of the ball. Queens must be nominated and be at least 65 years old.

The Strawberry Festival resumed bright and early Sunday mornings with a Raft Race on the Tuscarawas River. The race finished at the Route 212 Bridge in Wilkshire Hills. The Strawberry Festival continued downtown on Central Avenue with crafters, entertainment, dancing, a parade, a strawberry eating contest, and lots of food.

In 2005, the Bolivar Renaissance Assoc. revived the Bolivar Strawberry Festival to its current status on Father’s Day weekend in June. We’ve brought back the Queen’s contest and the Strawberry eating contest. Additionally, we have added a Ribs burn off and chicken barbecue along with lots of yummy strawberry treats. Area businesses and clubs also provide different types of food and activities.

Rides, entertainment, a brew tent, and crafters round out the festival. A Little Miss Shortcake Pageant for 4-6 year old girls and a Miss Berry Princess for 7-9 year old girls as well as a 5-K Run and a Fireman’s Parade tops off the festival to make it a “Berry” great experience for the whole family.

Each year should bring something new to the festival… you never know what will be added next. Come join us and see for yourself!
