Today’s Menu: Elk Cheese Burger w/ Baked Fries

To start this Morning off I’m preparing a Scrambled Egg and toasted a couple of slices of Healthy Life Whole Grain elk-cheese-burger-w-baked-fries-013Bread. I also made my morning cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Outside So after Breakfast I went to the local Kroger, needed a few items and picked up a few items for Mom. Then picked up a friend of mine and we went to pick up some computer parts for my computer. Purchased a new set of speakers for the computer and some Ram Chips. Love this store we call it “Nerdvana”! Incredible Computer Store. For Dinner tonight its an Elk Cheese Burger w/ Baked Fries.

I had purchased the Elk Burgers from SayersBrook Bison Ranch and loved them! They are a nice alternative to my elk-cheese-burger-w-baked-fries-003Buffalo Burgers. I had ordered a 1 lb. package of 3-Elk Burgers, a 1 lb. package of Ground Boar, and a 4 lb. package of Bison Chopped Sirloin Steak. So the Elk Burgers weigh 5.3 oz each. And to quote the site description of the Burgers – All our burgers are 100% meat. No fillers, no additives of any kind. Gluten free. High in protein, lower in fat than beef. Low in cholesterol and saturated fat. Delicious, with no gamey taste. Super easy to BBQ. Our meat has NO antibiotics, NO hormones, NO steroids. Our animals are free range and grass-fed. The package arrived on time and very packaged with all items still froze.

To prepare them is just like preparing my Buffalo Burgers. I first preheated the oven at 400 degrees. I grabbed a Cast Iron Skillet and sprayed it with Pam Cooking Spray and added a tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, heated it on elk-cheese-burger-w-baked-fries-006medium low. As the pan was heating I seasoned the Elk Burger with McCormick Grinder Sea Salt and Peppercorn Medley. Added the Burger to the pan and fried the Burger 2 minutes and flipped it over and continued to cook it another 2 minutes Then finished cooking it in the oven for about 5 minutes, to a beautiful medium rare. With a minute of cooking time left I added a slice of Kraft Sharp Cheddar to the top. It cooked up beautifully, just as Buffalo does. The Elk is juicy and very flavorful. It tasted somewhat like Buffalo but with a slightly different taste, good taste though! It makes one great Burger! I’ll have to more of the Elk Burgers and Chopped Bison Steak, I’m out of both.

Baked Battered Cod Sandwich w Baked Crinkle Fries 009
To go with Elk Burger I baked some Ore Ida Crinkle Fries. Seasoned them with Salt and Pepper and served with a side of Hunt’s Ketchup. For dessert tonight a bowl of Breyer’s Carb Smart Vanilla Ice Cream.

If you’ve never eaten Elk before, you are in for a treat. It is a terrific alternative to beef, choose from our many Elk Meat varieties. Elk is much leaner than beef. It’s high in protein and low in fat and cholesterol.
Sayersbrook meats come from grass-fed, free-range animals, without the use of any chemicals or additives or any kind. NO added hormones, NO antibiotics. ; Gourmet Dining in a Snap.

Now it’s easy to eat healthy. Just order online. We Ship Organic Grass Fed Meat Throughout the USA. We deliver to your door.

Elk is very easy to cook. But it cooks fast because it’s leaner than beef. Rule of thumb, elk takes 3/4 of the time to cook than beef.

No Breakfast or even Green Tea this morning! I’ve been fasting since 10:00 last night. I had to be at my Family Doctor this morning for my 4 month check up for sugar, cholesterol, etc. I’ll have the results in about 5 days they say. Hopefully I’ll get a good report on all. Next month I go in for my yearly scans for Cancer and 6 month Physical check up at my Oncologist and Dermatologist. Still nervous on the Cancer checks even after 12 years Cancer Free, always brings back a lot of bad memories. Rainy day out today so not a whole lot going on. For Dinner tonight I prepared a new favorite, Elk Burger! For Dinner tonight its an Elk Cheese Burger w/ Baked Fries.

Today’s Menu: Elk Cheese Burger w/ Baked Fries

Ham, Diced Potato, Egg, Hash 002
Started the morning off with one of my favorite Breakfast dishes, Skillet Potatoes and Ham. I used 1 package of Simply Potatoes Steakhouse Seasoned Diced Potatoes and a package of Meijer Diced Ham to prepare it. Just cook the Potatoes according to the package instructions and with about 5 minutes of cooking time left add the Diced Ham. Served it in a bowl and I topped it with a sprinkle of Sargento Reduced Fat Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese. Just love starting off the day with a skillet meal!

It was house cleaning today and I wanted to get everything done early because its NFL Football today, first Sunday of the year! So I ran the vac, dusted inside. Outside, I got the leaf blower out and cleaned the wooden deck and driveway areas. Beautiful day out today, sunny around 75 degrees and no humidity! A little taste of Fall maybe? Anyway everything done and settled down for a full day of Football! For dinner tonight, I’ve entered the world of Elk! I prepared an Elk Cheese Burger w/ Baked Fries.

If you like the flavor of the sirloin, love the Bison Burger but want to take it up a notch, then the Chopped Sirloin Steak is for you! 4 lbs (4 packages each with 2-8oz chopped sirloin steaks).
Great flavor of the sirloin but also extremely tender and juicy.

Elk Burgerselk-burgers

New! Elk burgers in a 1 lb box. Each package comes 3 burgers at 5.3 oz ea. All our burgers are 100% meat. No fillers, no additives of any kind. Gluten free. High in protein, lower in fat than beef. Low in cholesterol and saturated fat. Delicious, with no gamey taste. Super easy to BBQ.

Ground Boarground-boar

We now offer our wild boar ground meat in 1 lb. packages. Taste this delicious and healthy meat. It’s the wild version of “the other white meat”, replacing traditional ground pork with ground wild boar can greatly increase the flavour of almost any dish. Wild Boar meat tastes slightly sweet and nutty due to its diet of foraged nuts and other foods from the forest. It is a hardy animal not prone to illness. Our wild boar is all natural with no added hormones, no antibitiotcs, no steroids, and no additives of any kind.
