ORGANIC SPROUTED BLACK CHIA
Incredible, edible chia! Organic Sprouted Black Chia is a next level way to enjoy this stupendous seed. These chia seeds have undergone the sprouting process which increases the bioavailability of key nutrients in chia such as protein, fiber and antioxidants. You can enjoy conventional chia’s sprouted siblings in all the same satisfying ways. In case you need some ideas….

Uses for Organic Sprouted Chia
Add a thick texture and nutrients to jams or juices Supercharge a smoothie Mix with water for a vegan egg replacer in recipes Combine with fruit and nondairy milk for a chia pudding

Sprouted Foods in a Nutshell
New to sprouted foods? Let us plant the seed for ya! In fact, each little granule of this product started out as seeds; think tree nuts, grains or legumes. Unlike the standard seed growing process, sprouted seeds are germinated, which means they’re soaked and rinsed until they grow small tail-like ends. At that point, enzymes within the plant are activated and the sprouted seed reaches its full nutrient potential; meaning it contains more fiber, protein and nutrients than unsprouted plants.

Why Shout For Sprouts:
* Easy to digest
* Packed with easy-to-absorb vitamins, minerals and antioxidants
* Reduces inflammation
* Great for gluten sensitive diets
* Taste just as delicious as unsprouted foods
* Great for snacking, cooking and baking

What is a superfood?
Superfoods are foods that are nutritionally dense and provide a wide array of health benefits that are important for maintaining a balanced diet. Superfoods have high doses of vitamins and minerals which our bodies need to ward off diseases and stay healthy. They can also contain other important nutrients such as antioxidants, healthy fats, fiber, and phytochemicals. While the American Heart Association states that there are no set criteria for classifying a superfood, there are still foods that can be considered super due to their rich nutrient profile. We have compiled a list of some of the most popular superfoods which you can start incorporating into your diet today!

Popular Superfoods
1) Goji berries: Goji berries are bright orange-red berries that are native to China. In Asia, these berries have been consumed for many generations as they were thought to help you live longer. Goji berries are one of the most nutritionally dense berries. They contain all essential amino acids and are loaded with vitamin C, fiber, iron, calcium, zinc, and protein. These nutritional powerhouses also contains anti-inflammatory properties, as well as antibacterial compounds. Goji berries boast powerful antioxidant properties which help boost the immune system. It’s no wonder they have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries.

2) Quinoa: Quinoa comes from Peru, Bolivia and Chile. It’s been grown in the Andes Mountains for millennia as a food staple of the native people. It is often noted as a superfood because of its wide array of essential nutrients. Quinoa contains protein, fiber, and other vitamins and minerals like iron, copper, and vitamin B6. It is also a rich source of magnesium and phosphorus. A 2009 article in the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture noted that quinoa is a highly nutritious food due to its exceptional balance of protein, oil, fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

This rich nutrient profile provides several health benefits for the body. Quinoa’s fiber content improves digestion and is said to help lower cholesterol levels. A study on the effects of a quinoa diet published in the journal Plant Foods for Human Nutrition found that rats reduced their LDL cholesterol by 57 percent when they were fed quinoa after consuming high levels of fructose. Moreover, lowering your LDL can improve heart health. Quinoa also contains omega-3 fatty acids and alpha-linolenic acids which are important for keeping your heart healthy and happy.

3) Spirulina: Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae found in most lakes and ponds. Spirulina is a superfood naturally loaded with vitamins A through E, iron, and antioxidants. From calcium to potassium to zinc, spirulina contains a wide range of minerals. The essential amino acids present in spirulina play a key role in helping our bodies to efficiently use these minerals.

Furthermore, it is considered a complete protein, containing an ideal balance of all 9 essential amino acids. A one-ounce serving of spirulina contains over 30% of the Daily Value (DV) for protein. Spirulina’s protein is 85-95% digestible, a higher percentage than that of even red meat or soy. Spirulina’s antioxidant concentration is four times that of blueberries. Moreover, spirulina has an Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) of over 24,000 – ORAC measures the antioxidant concentration of foods. Antioxidants protect our cells from the damaging oxidative effects of free radicals.

4) Chia Seeds: Chia seeds are a great superfood since they are extremely high in omega-3 fatty acids and are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Thirty percent of chia seed oil is omega-3 oil. Ten percent of its oil is omega-6 oil. This is the perfect balance of essential fatty acids. Western diets are usually susceptible to a deficiency of omega-3, but a proper omega 3:6 ratio plays an important role by reducing inflammation in our bodies.

Moreover, chia seeds are great for athletes because they are highly hydrophilic, meaning they can absorb large amounts of water. They can hold 10 times their weight in water making them a great enhancer in hydrating our bodies. Furthermore, studies show that eating chia seed slows down how fast our bodies convert carbohydrate calories into simple sugars. This leads scientists to believe that chia seeds may have great benefits for diabetics.

5) Cacao Nibs: Chocolate in its purest form, cacao nibs are a great superfood. Cacao nibs are rich in antioxidants, fiber, iron and magnesium. They contain a wide array of health benefits that are essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Cacao nibs are an excellent source of fiber and iron. A single one-ounce serving of cacao nibs provides 18% of the DV for fiber and 21% of the DV for iron.

Cacao nibs are also chock-full of protective antioxidants and magnesium. In fact, cacao nibs are one of the best food sources of magnesium: an essential mineral involved in over 300 chemical reactions in our body, from nerve function to bone health. Cacao nibs are also said to help improve cognitive function. Cacao nibs have many other health benefits including improving cognitive function, stabilizing blood sugar, improving insulin sensitivity, enhancing your mood, and contributing to overall general health. We definitely suggest adding cacao nibs to your diet!

It’s Nuts, I tell you! – Chia Seeds

July 7, 2016 at 5:32 AM | Posted in NUTS COM | 2 Comments
Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Besides the selection of Nuts at the Nuts website (https://nuts.com/) they have a fantastic selection of healthy snacks, one being Chia Seeds. Wait, you didn’t know that Chia Seeds were healthy well here’s some great facts from the Nuts website.

7 Good Reasons to Start Eating Chia Seeds – from the Nuts website!NUTS2 LOGO
1 – Help weight loss. Chia seeds are popular for weight loss. They reduce food cravings by preventing some of the food that you eat from getting absorbed into your system. This blockage of calorie absorption makes them a great diet helper.
2 – Feel fuller faster: They can also help your diet by making you feel full. This is because they absorb 10 times their weight in water, forming a bulky gel.
3 – Hydration for athletes: They are also great for athletes because the “chia gel” can hydrate the body.
4 – Reduce your blood pressure: There’s evidence to suggest they can reduce blood pressure.
5 – Omega-3: They are the richest plant source of Omega-3 (the vital fats that protect against inflammation—such as arthritis—and heart disease). In fact, they contain more Omega-3 than salmon!
6 – Benefits for diabetes: Because chia seeds slow down how fast our bodies convert carbohydrates into simple sugars, studies indicate they can control blood sugar. This leads scientists to believe chia seeds may have great benefits for diabetics.
7 – They are easier to digest than flax seeds, and don’t need to be ground up.

WHY YOU SHOULD GET YOUR CHIA SEEDS FROM US
1 – Price: Our prices are much lower than some other suppliers. That’s because we’re one of America’s biggest suppliers of chia seeds. Also, we deal directly with the farmers, so there’s no “middleman”.
2 – They are great quality. If you don’t believe us, buy some of our chia seeds and some from elsewhere, and do yourself a blindfolded test—like the Pepsi Challenge but with more Omega-3.
3 – Our customers love them. See their almost deliriously happy comments below.
4 – No added weirdness: Our chia seeds were “raised well”; they are raw, non-GMO, non-irradiated, and produced without pesticides. Yippee!
5 – We guarantee to be in stock and will ship out the same business day.

OUR REGISTERED DIETITIAN’S TOP PICK
Our Registered Dietitian and Health Nut chooses chia seeds as a top pick because of their overall nutrition package NUTS1including: healthy fats, fiber, and minerals. In fact, just one tablespoon of chia seeds provides nearly 20 percent of your daily fiber goals. Plus, chia seeds are rich in essential fatty acids, which are a type of fat that the body needs to function that must come from food. Try stirring in a tablespoon of chia seeds into tea, juice or milk for a nutrient boost! Or thanks to their water absorbing properties, chia seeds are great for making pudding.
Chia seeds make an incredibly healthy—and often unnoticeable—addition to many foods.

Here are some great ways to enjoy chia seeds:

They can be eaten raw. (They have a nice “nutty” flavor.)
They can be soaked in fruit juice (in Mexico, they call this “chia fresca”).
They’re perfect in porridges and puddings.
They make an ideal addition to baked goods including breads, cakes and biscuits.
How Many Chia Seeds Should You Eat? We recommend two daily doses of about 20 g each (1.5 ounces total).

All kinds of nuts, sunflower NUTS2 LOGOseeds, dried fruit, coffee, and teas. That’s just some of selection of healthy items that you’ll find here! Below is the history of the company, just to give you a little background on them. Starting with this post and every Thursday I’ll be featuring a recipe or product of Nuts.com ( https://nuts.com/ ) Eat and snack the HEALTHY way!

About us
In 1929, on the brink of the Depression, our father and grandfather “Poppy” Sol took a bold step. 22 years old, he had already worked full time for 10 years to support his family. Yet he was ambitious, and wanted to live the American Dream and make the lives of everyone around him better. So, donning his best of suits and an assured smile on his face, Sol walked away from the bank with a loan to start his own business, the Newark Nut Company. The rest is history. Let us tell you all about it:

OUR STORY
As mentioned above, the vision and determination of our Poppy Sol is what launched the Newark Nut Company.nuts ad

He began selling premium bulk nuts and dried fruit at the popular Mulberry Street open-air market. Sol quickly developed a reputation for providing the very finest and freshest nuts available. Sol believed in choosing only the highest quality super colossal nuts from the world’s best growers. He would then roast the nuts to perfection for a fresh, delicious flavor.

Now, 87 years later, my cousin David and I represent the third generation of our family business. Although much has changed, our basic philosophy has not, and we continue the family tradition of providing the same superb quality and service as in the past. Our customers, some in their 80’s and 90’s, still rave about the splendid quality and luscious flavor of the products that have made our company famous throughout the years. A visit to the shop today will make your mouth water as the aroma of the freshly roasted peanuts and corn kernels popping tempt your taste buds. We love when customers come to our new location in Cranford to pick up orders and say hello. However, please keep in mind it is a warehouse location and you are unable to walk around and shop.

In 1999, we launched NutsOnline to bring our savory selection of more than 2,000 items right to your door. By 2011, NutsOnline became pretty well known across North America for great quality and service across a growing product offering. Our slogan, “We’re more than just nuts,” continued to ring true.

That being said, I can’t tell you the number of times I would make new friends and, before saying goodbye, they would say, “I’m excited to check you guys out. Nuts.com, right?” Even Rachael Ray made this mistake on her show! So, in January 2012, we decided to officially change our nuts to Nuts.com. Despite the name change, we are still the same – the same family, the same values, the same quality, and the same level of care. We buy directly from growers, so whether you want one pound or 1,000 pounds, we will gladly accommodate any of your needs, including wholesale. You can order online through our secure server, over the phone, or via fax or e-mail.

https://nuts.com/

We roast our nuts and pop our corn the same day we ship so they reach you deliciously fresh as if you bought them NUTS1from our shop. We do it the “Old Fashioned Way.” One taste and you will know the difference. My grandfather began building our reputation back in 1929 and, 87 years later, we continue to make sure that every product we sell is second to none. That’s a promise. 100% satisfaction guaranteed!

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to contact us!

Thanks and enjoy!
– Jeffrey (third generation) along with my dad, Kenny, my uncle, Sandy, my cousin, David, and the rest of the Nuts.com Family!!
