Today’s Menu: Smoked Cheddar and Mushroom Bison Burger w/ Baked Crinkle FriesSnowing Buffalo gal burger 001

In a span 24 hours here in the Ohio Valley it Thundered, Rained, Sleeted, Freezing Rain, and now it’s Snowing. We have about 4″ on the ground and they said we could expect anywhere from 6″ to 8″ with more coming over the weekend. Welcome to Ohio!

For dinner one of my favorites a Smoked Cheddar and Mushroom Bison Burger w/ Baked Crinkle Fries! Just love that Bison or Buffalo. ISnowing Buffalo gal burger 009 had ordered some Bison Products from http://www.buffalogal.com/. I had tried the Bison Top Sirloin about a week ago and tonight I’m trying the Buffalo Gal 1/3 Buffalo Patties. Their a really good looking plump Burger. I pan fried it on medium heat in Canola Oil about 4 minutes per side. The Burger came out moist and juicy with that fantastic Bison taste. I’ll give it two thumbs up, excellent Bison Burger! I served it on a Healthy Life Whole Grain Bun topped with Sauteed Mushrooms and a slice of Borden Smoked Cheddar. For a side I had a serving of Baked Ore Ida Crinkle Fries. For dessert/snack later a 100 Calorie Mini Bag of Jolly Time Pop Corn.

Suggested Cooking Tips:
Bison burger is lean (ranging from 93-96% lean) so when grilling or pan frying the burger – place it on medium heat – COVER. Allow the burger to do its cooking on one side. Don’t poke, smash or continually flip the burger because you want to maintain all of the moisture and fat in the meat. When burger appears mostly cooked – flip one time and in 30-45 seconds it should be ready to serve. You might find that using a meat thermometer is helpful when first cooking the burger. It should reach 160 degrees internal temp.

Today’s Menu: Bison Top Sirloin & Sauteed Mushrooms w/ Baked Potato, Sugar Snap Pea &  Carrot Medley, and Whole Grain Bread.

Buffalo Gal Bison Top Sirloin 006

It’s 4 days before the first day of Winter and we have Heavy Rain and a Thunder Storm going on outside. I was going to grill a Bison Top Sirloin but due to the weather it was indoor cooking! For dinner I prepared a Bison Top Sirloin & Sauteed Mushrooms w/ Baked Potato, Sugar Snap Pea 7 Carrot Melody, and Whole grain Bread.

The Top Sirloin was the Top Sirloin I had ordered from Buffalo Gal at http://www.buffalogal.com/Bison-Top-Sirloin-Steaks-P42.aspx. We had already tried the Bison Hot Dogs, which were good, that was part of the order. T o prepare the Steaks I seasoned them with McCormick Grinder Sea Salt and Black Peppercorn. I pan fried them in Canola Oil on medium heat, about 5 1/2 – 6 minutes per side, medium rare! The Steaks came out delicious with great flavor. Comparing these, Buffalo Gal, to Wild Idea Sirloins I would have to give the edge to Wild Idea though. The Wild Idea had a slightly better taste and also the Buffalo Gal Sirloins were a bit tougher meat than Wild Idea. With that being said the Buffalo Gal Sirloins were very good though. I topped them with Sauteed Baby Bella Mushrooms.
For side dishes I prepared a Baked Potato, that was seasoned with McCormick Grinder Sea Salt and Black Peppercorn along with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, and I combined the leftover Sugar Snap Peas and sliced Carrots from dinner the other day and warmed them up in a Medley of the two. We also had a side of sliced Healthy Life Whole Grain Bread. For dessert later a couple of Honey Crisp Apple slices and a Jello Sugar Free Dark Cherry Jello.
