Today’s Menu: Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies)

For Breakfast this morning I poached an Egg and served it on a toasted Healthy Life Whole Grain English Muffin. I also had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Big change in the weather out there. 24 degrees, snow flurries, and windy, which makes it feel a lot colder out there! Had a high of 40 degrees but it sure felt colder. Had a good nights sleep last night, no Phantom Pains! Did some house cleaning and that was about it. For Dinner tonight it’s Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies). Comfort Food tonight, Good Ole Beans and Weenies!

Been a while since I’ve prepared Sausage and Beans. So tonight it’s Beans and Weenies, but I kicked this version up a bit. I used 1 Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage (sliced into thin bite size pieces), 3 slices of Jennie – O Turkey Bacon (Fried and Crumbled), 1 can of Bush’s White Chili Beans, 1 can Bush’s Vegetarian Reduced Sodium Baked Beans, 1/4 cup of Red Onion (Chopped), 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon, 1 teaspoon Ground Mustard, 1 tablespoon Splenda Brown Sugar, Liquid Smoke (Optional and to taste), a couple of shakes (or more) of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, and 2 cups of Jack Daniel’s Honey Smokehouse BBQ Sauce (or to taste).

I used a small size Dutch Oven that I had sprayed with Pam Cooking Spray. Added all the ingredients except for the Turkey Smoked Sausage to the Dutch Oven, and stirred until well mixed. I turned the stove on medium low, covered the pot and just let it simmer. Another set it and forget recipe! After I got the Beans started I fried up 1 1/2 Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausages. I first sliced them up into bite size pieces then fried them on medium until they started to brown and removed them from the heat and put them in a small bowl and set aside.

Then using the same skillet I fried the Sausage in I fried 3 slices of Applegate No Sugar Added Uncured Bacon, actually I fried 5 slices. Always remember when preparing Bacon to always add 2 extra slices. Because you know you’ll grab a couple of slices, it’s called the Bacon Factor or Bacon Math. First time I’ve tried the Applegate Bacon. I normaly use Turkey or Chicken Bacon but this looked like an excellent Bacon. It fried up perfect and very good flavor to it. Plus it’s only 60 calories for 2 slices. As I said it fried up nice and crisp and when done crumbled it up into small pieces and added it to the Beans. Sausage, Bacon, and Beans are such a natural combo, Bacon gives it that wonderful smoky flavor.

I love dishes that you can set and let them simmer, to me it seems to give food a much richer and deeper flavor. After a couple of hours I added the Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausages to the Beans. Kept the heat on low until it was time for dinner. A good Hearty Meal tonight. You have the smokiness of the Bacon and Liquid Smoke, the Sweetness and Tang of the BBQ Sauce, the Spices, along with the Smoked Turkey Sausage and Beans. I just love all the flavors, a real comfort food favorite! Another plus is the cleanup, just one dutch Oven and 1 skillet to clean. Also reheated the leftover Bakehouse Multigrain Bread. For Dessert later a So Delicious Coconut Milk Ice Cream Sandwich.

Today’s Menu: Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies)

For Breakfast this morning I had a another of the delicious SayersBrook Bison Ranch Filet Mignon! I love these they’re so tender and fry up so easy. So I had Steak and Egg. I had Bison Filet Mignon in the freezer, I laid it in the fridge overnight to thaw. I fried it like last time. I just seasoned it with some McCormick Grinder Sea Salt and Peppercorn Medley. I then grabbed a small skillet, sprayed it with Pam Cooking Spray, and added a 1/2 tablespoon of Extra Light Olive Oil. Heated it on medium heat. Fried the first side 3 minutes and flipped it over and cooked it another 2 minutes. And like last time it came out a perfect medium rare! It was so tender and juicy. Then I also fried up a Sunny Side Egg and toasted a couple of slices of Aunt Millie’s Light Whole Grain Bread. Sure tough to beat a Steak and Egg Breakfast Combo! Also had my morning cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea.

We had snow showers on and off all night, none of it stuck to the ground though. Another cool day out, a high of 33 degrees and sunny out. After I had Breakfast I prepared Breakfast for Mom and Dad. I prepared Scrambled Eggs, sausage Patties, Buttery Grits, Toast, and made a pot of Coffee. Gave Mom a hand with a couple of loads of laundry. Then cleaned the house, dusted and vacuumed. For Dinner tonight it’s Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies). Comfort Food tonight!

Back home did a little yard work before the heat and humidity set in for the day. Done with all the major chores so just did a few things around the house that needed done. After Lunch headed up to the hospital to see Dad. He turns 95 today! We thought he was going to get to come home today but he had a bad night last night, sick to his stomach and didn’t sleep all night. So he’ll be there till next week. For Dinner tonight it’s Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies).

Today’s Menu: Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies)

The hot and humid weather has settled back in for at least the next 5-6 days, and it is very humid out there this morning. After Breakfast I went to Kroger, I was all out of Apples. The Honey Crisp Apples are back in stock! The first batches they are getting in are huge and taste fantastic! Love it when they are in season. Late afternoon I had to go back to the optometrist for one last check for Glaucoma. Glad that’s over! For dinner tonight frozen leftovers. I reheated Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies).

Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies) 010

I had made this about 4 days ago and froze the leftovers. And while checking the freezer out for something to prepare for dinner I thought why not the Beans and Sausage again. I love this dish; easy to prepare and nothing but good! So I sat it in the fridge overnight to thaw. Then at dinnertime added the Beans and Sausage to a small sauce pan and reheated on low until heated through. The dish freezes and reheats perfect. Excellent Dish! Also baked a loaf of Pillsbury Rustic French Bread to go with it. I reposted the original post from the other day below which has the recipe.

Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies) 002

While growing up who didn’t like the old-fashioned Campbell’s Beans and Weenies! So tonight it’s Beans and Weenies, but I kicked this version up a bit. I used 1 Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage (sliced into thin bite size pieces), 3 slices of Jennie – O Turkey Bacon, 1 can of Bush’s Cannellini Beans, 1 can Joan of Arc Spicy Chili Beans, 1/4 cup of Red Onion (Chopped), 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon, 1 teaspoon Ground Mustard, 1 tablespoon Splenda Brown Sugar, Liquid Smoke (Optional and to taste), a couple of shakes (or more) of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, and 2 cups of Jack Daniel’s Honey Smokehouse BBQ Sauce (or to taste).

Plus it’s another one of those delicious one pot meals. I used a small size Dutch Oven that I had sprayed with Pam Cooking Spray. Added all the ingredients except for the Turkey Smoked Sausage to the Dutch Oven, and stirred until well mixed. I turned the stove on medium low, covered the pot and just let simmer. Another set it and forget recipe! After I got the Beans started I fried up 3 slices of Jennie – O Turkey Bacon, actually I fried 5 slices. You could make this in a crock pot on low and let it go all day or by using a medium size sauce pan and get done even quicker. I love dishes that you can set low and let them simmer. After a couple of hours I sliced up one of the Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausages and added it to the Beans. I then increased the heat to medium for about another 1/2 hour and then reduced it back down to medium low until it was time for dinner. A good Hearty Meal tonight. You have the smokiness of the Bacon and Liquid Smoke, the Sweetness and Tang of the BBQ Sauce, the Spices, along with the Smoked Turkey Sausage and Beans. Today’s Menu: Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies)

Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies) 010
After Breakfast and my morning workout I got a few things done around the house and then off to Kroger. And good news, the Honey Crisp Apples are back in stock! Just love those Apples! Back home was on the phone with Hoveround Mobility Chairs for over an hour!! Trying to cut through all the red tape to get my Hoveround Chair repaired. Because of the Obama Care what used to take a few minutes to get work scheduled now takes up to 3 weeks or more, just not right what they’ve done to Health Care. Anyway for dinner tonight I prepared Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies).

Today’s Menu: Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies)

Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage 008
Woke up to a beautiful Sunrise out. The day started off sunny but clouds moved in and had a couple of brief showers, somewhat cooler out though. Ran Mom to the store and come back home and got the leaf blower out. There’s always plenty of leafs on and around the driveway. Finished up a load of laundry for Mom and then had to repair a shed door outside. For dinner tonight it was comfort food!. I prepared Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies).

While growing up who didn’t like the old-fashioned Campbell’s Beans and Weenies! So it’s Beans and Weenies but I Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage 003kicked this version up a bit. I used 1 Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage (sliced into thin bite size pieces), 3 slices of Jennie – O Turkey Bacon, 1 can of Joan of Arc Spicy Chili Beans, 1 can of Dark Red Kidney Beans (drained and rinsed), 1/4 of a medium-sized White Onion (Chopped), 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon, 1 teaspoon Ground Mustard, 1/2 tablespoon Splenda Brown Sugar, Liquid Smoke (Optional and to taste), a couple of shakes (or more) of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, and a 1 cup of Jack Daniel’s Honey Smokehouse BBQ Sauce (or to taste).

Another one of those delicious one pot meals. I used a small size Dutch Oven that I had sprayed with Pam Cooking Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage 001Spray. Added all the ingredients except for the Turkey Smoked Sausage to the Dutch Oven, and stirred until well mixed. I turned the stove on medium low, covered the pot and just let simmer. Another set it and forget recipe! After I got the Beans started I fried up 3 slices of Jennie – O Turkey Bacon. I fried it up nice and crisp and when done crumbled it up into small pieces and added it to the Beans. I just love all the flavors, a real comfort food favorite of mine! Another plus is the cleanup, just one dutch Oven to clean. I also baked a loaf of Pillsbury Rustic French Bread. For dessert later a Healthy Choice Dark Fudge Swirl Frozen Greek Yogurt.

Today’s Menu: Leftovers – Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies)

Well we’re paying for the mild Winter now! It’s about 10 degrees with a windchill of 0. Down right freezing out there! Snow moving in tonight, they are still not sure how much though. Last I heard was 3″-5″. Then an Artic Cold Wave moving in, below zero Thursday morning. All you can do is grin, bear it, and make the best of it! It’s another Leftover Dinner Tonight for me. For dinner tonight Leftover Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies).

Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage 008

Tomorrow morning is garbage morning, so our fridge is purged of all leftovers. The Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage was so good from last Night’s Dinner I couldn’t let them go to waste. So I heated them back up along with a slice of Buttered Klosterman Wheat Bread. Below is the original post along with the full prep and recipe. Stay warm!
So it’s Beans and Weenies but I kicked it up a bit. I used 1 Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage (sliced into thin bite size pieces), 3 slices of Jennie – O Turkey Bacon, 1 can of Joan of Arc Spicy Chili Beans, 1 can of Bush’s Reduced Sodium Black Beans (drained and rinsed), 1/4 of a medium-sized White Onion (Chopped), 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon, 1 tablespoon Ground Mustard, 1/2 tablespoon Splenda Brown Sugar, Liquid Smoke (Optional and to taste), a couple of shakes (or more) of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, and a 1 cup of Jack Daniel’s Honey Smokehouse BBQ Sauce (or to taste).

Today’s Menu: Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies)

Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage 008

First week of the New Year and it was 51 degrees this morning when I ventured out to get the morning papers! But that’s going to ending real quick, as they’re saying by Wednesday it will be zero or below to start the day with a high of 10 degrees, got to love this Ohio Weather! Forgot a couple of items when at Kroger yesterday so this morning I went back to pick them up. Back home for the day watching the Football Playoffs. For dinner tonight a favorite Comfort Food of mine, Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies).

Today’s Menu: Leftovers – Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies)

Beans and Sausage 005
Weather wise more of the same, hot, hazy, and humid. When it’s like this i don’t have much on an appetite. Which leads to today, nothing sounded good. Mondays are the day if you have any leftovers in the fridge, it’s either use it or lose it! Garbage goes out in the morning so we usually clean the fridge of any leftovers. So for my dinner tonight it was Leftover Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage (Beans and Weenies).

I had a nice size helping of the Beans and Smoked Turkey Sausage leftover and it was too good to go to waste so I heated that up for my dinner tonight. In case you missed it here’s how it’s prepared. I used 1 Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage (sliced into bite size pieces), a handful of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Bits, 1 can of Joan of Arc Spicy Chili Beans, 1 can of Bush’s Reduced Sodium Black Beans (drained and rinsed), 1/4 of a medium-sized Red Onion (Chopped), 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon, 1 tablespoon Ground Mustard, 1 tablespoon Splenda Brown Sugar, a couple of shakes (or more) of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, and a 3/4 cup of Jack Daniel’s Honey Smokehouse BBQ Sauce (or to taste).

To prepare everything, it can’t be much easier. You could make this in a crock pot on low and let it go all day or by using a medium size sauce pan and get done even quicker. I love dishes that you can set low and let them simmer. After a couple of hours I sliced up one of the Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage and added it to the Beans. I then increased the heat to medium for about another hour and then reduced it back down to medium low until it was time for dinner. So to reheat this I just put into a small sauce pan and set it on medium low until it was heated through. I also had a slice of Klosterman Wheat Bread. Then for dessert later a Weight Watchers Vanilla Bean & Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwich.
