Today’s Menu: Mozzarella and Mushroom Bison Steak Sandwich w/ Baked Fries

For Breakfast this morning I just had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. 88 degrees and partly sunny, had a light shower move through in late afternoon. I grabbed my Mask and I went to Kroger for Mom for a few items and then stopped by Wendy’s and picked up her Breakfast. A friend of mine came over after Lunch and I gave him a hand replacing the living room and dining room window blinds. The ones up were so old the slats were breaking in half, much needed new ones! That was about it for the day. For Dinner tonight I prepared Mozzarella and Mushroom Bison Steak Sandwich w/ Baked Fries.

To make my Bison Steak Sandwich I used SayersBrook Bison Ranch Ground Bison Sirloin. I used a meat tenderizer to get it a bit finer and then formed them into patties. I had them in the freezer so I set them in the fridge overnight to thaw. To make the Steak Sandwich I’ll using the Bison with seasonings of McCormick Grinders of Sea Salt and Peppercorn Medley and McCormick Italian Seasoning. For toppings I’m going to Sautee some Mushrooms, Ragu Pizza Sauce, a slice of Kroger Mozzarella Cheese, and served on a Aunt Millie’s Deli Whole Grain Mini Sub Bun. I had 2 of the Steak Patties, I fried both of the them.

Then to prepare them I took a medium size skillet. Sprayed it with Pam Non Stick Cooking Spray and heated it on medium heat. As it heated I added a tablespoon on Extra Light Olive Oil. Next I seasoned the Steaks. I started with a light rub of the Extra Light Olive Oil on both sides then I seasoned them with the Grinder Sea Salt and Grinder Peppercorn Medley and the Italian Seasoning. With the skillet ready I added both Steaks I fried them a total of 6 minutes, 3 minutes per side. After flipping the Patties I added a slice of Mozzarella Cheese with a minute of cooking time left. As these were cooking I added some sliced Mushrooms to a small skillet that I heated it on medium heat. Seasoned them and Sauteed them, set aside when done till needed.

I took the finished Steaks and put them on the bottom half of the Mini Sub Bun. Topped them with the Pizza Sauce and with the Sauteed Mushrooms. ready to serve! These turned out really good, excellent flavor! I didn’t have a small sirloin to pound out but I’m going to purchase some just to make a Steak Sandwich with. Really enjoyed these!

To go with my Steak Sandwiches I baked some Ore Ida Crinkle Cut Fries, my favorites. Served with some Hunt’s Ketchup for dipping. For Dessert/Snack later a 100 calorie Mini Bag of Snyder’s Stick Pretzels with a Diet Dr. Pepper to drink.

SayersBrook Ground Bison
Most times a recipe using ground meat cautions you to drain it as part of the preparation instructions. This is because of the fat content of the meat. In addition to being unhealthy, what you are draining is uneconomical. You’re pouring money down the drain, literally. With Ground Bison Meat from SayersBrook Bison Ranch, you won’t have this problem. In fact, we recommend that you spray your fry pan or skillet with a non-stick spray. It’s the good old American custom of getting what you pay for. Conveniently packaged in 1 lb units, Ground Bison Meat can be used in any recipe calling for beef. Now, you can make chili, lasagna, or your favorite casserole with delicious bison ground meat. One serving (1/3 lb) of ground bison contains 11 g fat, 270 calories, 0 g carbs and 31 g of protein.
