Today’s Menu: Dirty Rice and Shrimp
For Breakfast this morning I prepared some Simply Potatoes Southwest Style Shredded Hash Browns, love these they have some good spices. Then I also prepared 2 Johnsonville Turkey Breakfast Sausage Links and had my morning cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. More rain outside! 56 degrees, cloudy, and passing showers for today. We need some dry weather! Cleaned and straightened up the pantry and both freezers. That took almost the whole afternoon. For Dinner tonight I prepared Dirty Rice and Shrimp.
For the Shrimp I’m using a Kroger 10 oz. bag of Wild Caught Shrimp. It comes frozen and I had it in the freezer. I sat it in the fridge overnight to thaw. Before adding the Shrimp to the Dirty Rice I washed the Shrimp off in cold water in a colander then sat it in the fridge until ready to use.
For the Rice, as always, I’m using a box of Zatarain’s Dirty Rice To prepare the Dirty Rice; Stirred in 2 1/2 cups of Water and the Rice Mix into the saucepan until it was well blended. Brought it to a boil. Reduced the heat to low and covered. Simmered for 25 minutes until the Rice was tender. With about 5 minutes of cooking time left I added the Shrimp. I stirred that in until it was well mixed and finished cooking time.
What a great looking Dish! The Dirty Rice cooked up perfect as all Zatarain’s Products. The Shrimp worked perfectly with the Dirty Rice and fantastic Cajun Seasoning. Enjoyed every bite of it! I have plenty of leftovers for either Lunch or Dinner tomorrow. For Dessert later a Jello Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Pudding. Stay Safe everyone!
