Making pizzas at home is a great way to save money and get the kids involved in making dinner. But homemade pizzas often lack the crispness of pizzeria pies. Here’s one tip that should help: Add the cheese before the tomato sauce. Cheese has a lower water content than tomatoes do, so the crust won’t get as soggy.

Today’s Menu: Banquet Homestyle Bakes Pizza Pasta w/ Baked Cheesy Bread
Another day of beautiful weather around here today. Spent most the day getting info and quotes on a new wheelchair ramp. I’ve had this wooden ramp for about 6 years now and the weather has taken its toll on it. Not sure to go with another wooden ramp or pay a little extra and get a metal one installed, need a new one though. For dinner tonight made one of my favorite boxed meals for dinner tonight Banquet Homestyle Bakes Pizza Pasta. I prepared the Banquet Homestyle Bakes Pizza Pasta w/ Baked Cheesy Bread.
Another quick, easy, and delicious comfort food. And why not it’s got two of my favorites in it pasta and pizza! The box contains 1 can of Pizza Sauce w/ Pepperoni and Sausage and 1 Pouch of Rotini Pasta. I also added a few slices of Turkey Pepperoni and sliced Portabello Mushrooms to the mix. For the preparation you can bake it or prepare it on the stove top, which is how I prepared it. Add 1 cup of water, stir and mix, and simmer and you have your dinner! This came out fantastic! Really tasted like a Pizza. The Sauce with the Mushrooms, Sausage, and Pepperoni provides great flavoring. Easily prepared and makes a hearty and delicious meal. The meal prepared by instructions is 280 calories and 46 carbs any of the additions are very little extra. I left the item product description below.
I also prepared some Baked Cheesy Bread. Another easy one, using Healthy Choice Whole Grain Bread, Sargento Reduced Fat Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, and I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter. Just Butter the Bread and add your Cheese on top. Then bake on 400 degrees until the Bread is toasted and Cheese is melted. For dessert/snack later some Tostito‘s Whole Grain Scoops along with Newman’s Own Pineapple Salsa, a good and healthy snack while watching the Bengals on Monday Night Football!
*Pepperoni and sausage included
*5 minute preparation oven or stove top
1. Stir Together Can of Sauce and 1 Cup Hot Water In Medium Skillet.

Today’s Menu: Turkey Sausage and Turkey Pepperoni Pizza
A perfect day out today. It’s been 77 degrees, a slight cool breeze, and sunny. They say in the morning a low in the mid 40′s! Just spent the day outside enjoying the weather. For dinner it was Pizza Night, Turkey Sausage and Turkey Pepperoni Pizza.
I tried a new Pizza Crust (Pie), Meijer Pizza Thin Crusts. Their 130 calories and 19 net carbs for a half Pizza. So eating a full one would only be 260 calories and 38 carbs, not too bad. For my toppings I used Jennie – O Lean Breakfast Sausage (Which I fried ahead of time), Hormel Turkey Pepperoni, Sargento Reduced Fat Shredded Mozzarella, Ragu Original Pizza Sauce, Sliced Baby Bella Mushrooms, 1/2 (Small) Can Sliced Black Olives, and 3 Thin Slices of Anchovies (Chopped).
I preheated the oven on 425 degrees. I then brushed a light coating of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and then added my toppings. Baked for about 7 minutes and then turned the broiler on and baked it an additional 1 minute. By using the broiler for a minute or so it crisped the crust a little and browned the cheese a bit, perfect! Great call on dinner tonight as it the spot, made 2 of them one for my dinner and one for Mom and Dad to snack on later tonight. For dessert later a Del Monte Mango Chunk Cup.
Add zest to a wide variety of dishes with our great tasting Pepperoni. In addition to perking up pizza, pepperoni is an ideal partner for sandwiches, salads, pasta or nachos and more. Available in many varieties to complement any meal idea.

Went out and got the morning paper about 6:45 this morning and it was 50 degrees! 50 degrees in late July, odd weather this year. It was another gorgeous day out also, about 78 and sunny. For dinner wanted a hot but light meal so I prepared a Baked Pita Bread Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza.
I used my new favorite Pita Bread, Joseph’s Flax, Oat Bran, and Whole Wheat Pita Bread. I’ve been using this for the last couple of weeks and love it. Stays very fresh, good tasting and it’s only 50 calories and 7 carbs (4 Net Carbs) per serving.
For my toppings I tried to use all items that were Turkey, Low Fat, and Reduced Fat. I used Hormel Turkey Pepperoni (70 Calories and 0 Carbs), Jennie – O Lean Ground Turkey (160 Calories and 0 Carbs), Ragu Pizza Sauce (40 Calories and 5 Carbs), Sliced Black Olives (30 Calories and 1 Carb), and Kraft 2% Mozzarella (70 Calories and 1 Carb). I also had about 3 slices of Mushrooms on there also. I spread 1 brush of Extra Virgin Olive Oil on top of the Pita Bread and then layered my toppings. I then baked it on a cookie sheet at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes, until the Cheese was melted and the toppings were heated. The Pita Bread makes one fine Pizza! The Bread browned and crisped up just right and everything was so low in calories and carbs I could have a couple of them if I wanted. Pita Bread Pizzas, gotta love them! For dessert later a Jello Sugar Free Double Chocolate Pudding topped with Cool Whip Free.

Mom and Dad wanted Pizza for dinner and it’s so hot and humid out I thought I would just order one for all of us and save them from having to get out in the heat. So Domino’s it was! I ordered a Medium Hand Tossed Pizza with toppings of Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Sliced Mushrooms, and Sliced Black Olives. As usual it was delivered right on time and piping hot! I don’t eat out or have a Pizza delivered very often, but when I do it’s usually Domino’s. plus it’s nice for a change of pace of not having to cook and then clean afterwards for dinner. Below I’ve left a little history of Domino’s. For a dessert later a bowl of Del Monte No Sugar Added Peach Chunks.
Tom Monaghan and his brother, James, purchased DomiNick’s, a small pizza store in Ypsilanti, Michigan, near Eastern Michigan University. The deal was secured by a $75 down payment and the brothers borrowed $500 to pay for the store. Eight months later, James traded his half of the business to Tom for a used Volkswagen Beetle. In 1965, Monaghan renamed the business Domino’s Pizza, Inc. In 1967, the first Domino’s Pizza franchise store opened in Ypsilanti. The company logo was originally planned to add a new dot with the addition of every new store, but this idea quickly faded as Domino’s experienced rapid growth. The three dots represent the stores that were open in 1969. Reflecting Domino’s growth, the company had expanded to 200 stores by 1978. In 1975, Domino’s faced a lawsuit by Amstar Corporation, the maker of Domino Sugar, alleging trademark infringement and unfair competition. On May 2, 1980, a federal appeals court found in favor of Domino’s Pizza.
The current Domino’s menu features a variety of Italian-American entrees and side dishes. Pizza is the primary focus, with
traditional, specialty, and custom pizzas available in a variety of crust styles and toppings. In 2011, Domino’s launched artisan-style pizzas. Additional entrees include pasta, bread bowls, and oven-baked sandwiches. The menu offers chicken side dishes, breadsticks, as well as beverages and desserts.
From its founding until the early 1990s, the menu at Domino’s Pizza was kept simple relative to other fast food restaurants, to ensure efficiency of delivery. Historically, Domino’s menu consisted solely of one pizza in two sizes (12-inch and 16-inch), 11 toppings, and Coca-Cola as the only soft drink option.
The first menu expansion occurred in 1989, with the debut of Domino’s deep dish or pan pizza. Its introduction followed market research showing that 40% of pizza customers preferred thick crusts. The new product launch cost approximately $25 million, of which $15 million was spent on new sheet metal pans with perforated bottoms. Domino’s started testing extra-large size pizzas in early 1993, starting with the 30-slice, yard-long “The Dominator”.
Domino’s tapped into a market trend toward bite-size foods with spicy Buffalo Chicken Kickers, as an alternative to Buffalo Wings, in August 2002. The breaded, baked, white-meat fillets, similar to chicken fingers, are packaged in a custom-designed box with two types of sauce to “heat up” and “cool down” the chicken.
In August 2003, Domino’s announced its first new pizza since January 2000, the Philly Cheese Steak Pizza. The product launch also marked the beginning of a partnership with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, whose beef Check-Off logo appeared in related advertising. Domino’s continued its move toward specialty pizzas in 2006, with the introduction of its Brooklyn Style Pizza, featuring a thinner crust, cornmeal baked in to add crispness, and larger slices that could be folded in the style of traditional New York-style pizza.
In 2008, Domino’s once again branched out into non-pizza fare, offering oven-baked sandwiches in four styles, intended to compete with Subway’s toasted submarine sandwiches. Early marketing for the sandwiches made varied references to its competition, such as offering free sandwiches to customers named “Jared,” a reference to Subway’s spokesman of the same name.
The company introduced its American Legends line of specialty pizzas in 2009, featuring 40% more cheese than the company’s regular pizzas, along with a greater variety of toppings. That same year, Domino’s began selling its BreadBowl Pasta entree, a lightly seasoned bread bowl baked with pasta inside, and the Lava Crunch Cake dessert, composed of a crunchy chocolate shell filled with warm fudge. Domino’s promoted the dessert by flying in 1,000 cakes to deliver at Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitor Center near Mount St Helens in Washington State.]
In 2010, shortly after the company’s 50th anniversary, Domino’s changed its pizza recipe “from the crust up”, making significant changes in the dough, sauce, and cheese used in their pizzas. Their advertising campaign admitted to earlier problems with the public perception of Domino’s product due to taste issues.
After a stock low point in late 2009, the company’s stock had grown 233 percent by late 2011. Even as the American economy has suffered and unemployment has risen, Domino’s has seen its sales rise dramatically through its efforts to rebrand and retool its pizza.
Domino’s serves Coca-Cola products and is the only “Big Four” pizza chain to do so. Rivals Papa John’s Pizza and Little Caesars sold Coca-Cola in the past (Pizza Hut, due to its previous ownership by PepsiCo, has a lifetime contract to sell Pepsi products), but both switched to Pepsi in 2012 and 2007, respectively. Domino’s Pizza in Mexico switched to Pepsi in November 2012.
In September 2012, Domino’s announced it was going to roll out a pan pizza on September 24, 2012. Following this move, the Deep Dish pizza was discontinued after 23 years of being on the menu.

Today’s Menu: Turkey Pepperoni, Turkey Sausage, Mushrooms, Black Olive, Classic Crust Pizza
Beautiful Day out, about 70 and sunny! My parents went out to eat with friends so it was solo night for dinner and a Pizza sounded real good! I prepared a Turkey Pepperoni, Turkey Sausage, Mushrooms, Black Olive, Pizza. Oh and almost forgot I also added a small can of Anchovies!
I used my favorite Pizza Crust, Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust. To prepare it just preheat your oven on 400 degrees. Use a medium to large cookie sheet pan and spray it lightly with Pam. Then just open the can and spread the crust. The good thing about this is you make your crust as thin or as thick you want. Prebake it for 8 minutes and then add your toppings and put it back in the oven 8 – 10 more minutes until the crust is golden brown. Just a note; precook any of the toppings that need to be cooked, like any Sausage, before adding it as a topping.
My toppings were Hormel Turkey Pepperoni, Jennie O Lean Breakfast Sausage, Anchovies in Olive Oil, Black Olives, Mushrooms (Sliced baby Bella), Sargento Shredded Mozzarella and Provolone Cheese, and Ragu Homestyle Pizza Sauce. As I said earlier the crust is fantastic! It bakes up to a golden brown with the outer crust nice and crunchy. I left the Pillsbury product description and web site link at the end of the post. For dessert later a Healthy Choice Chocolate Swirl Frozen Yogurt.

Today’s Menu: Medium Pepperoni and Italian Sausage Domino’s Pizza
I’ve been taking care of Mom and Dad for over a week now, both down with the flu that’s been going around. Me, I’ve been lucky I’ve avoided it. Till now! Sometime overnight I started feeling the effects of it. Coughing, sneezing, and runny nose, NO FUN! So now all three of us have it and in a case like this, The Kitchen is Closed! So hello Domino’s!
So I ordered a Domino’s Pizza to be delivered. We ordered a Medium Pizza with Shredded Provolone Cheese, Normal amount of the Robust Sauce, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, Black Olives, on a Hand Tossed Pizza. It’s nice not to have to prepare dinner. First time in quite a while. I think we had a Pizza on New Year’s Day so it’s been a while. Pizza came as ordered hot and delicious, thank you Domino’s! For dessert later I’m really not sure. The way I feel now maybe nothing but sleep!
