Today’s Menu: Turkey Pepperoni, Turkey Sausage, Mushrooms, Black Olive, Classic Crust Pizza
Beautiful Day out, about 70 and sunny! My parents went out to eat with friends so it was solo night for dinner and a Pizza sounded real good! I prepared a Turkey Pepperoni, Turkey Sausage, Mushrooms, Black Olive, Pizza. Oh and almost forgot I also added a small can of Anchovies!

pillsbury-classic-crust-pizza-005

I used my favorite Pizza Crust, Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust. To prepare it just preheat your oven on 400 degrees. Use a medium to large cookie sheet pan and spray it lightly with Pam. Then just open the can and spread the crust. The good thing about this is you make your crust as thin or as thick you want. Prebake it for 8 minutes and then add your toppings and put it back in the oven 8 – 10 more minutes until the crust is golden brown. Just a note; precook any of the toppings that need to be cooked, like any Sausage, before adding it as a topping.

My toppings were Hormel Turkey Pepperoni, Jennie O Lean Breakfast Sausage, Anchovies in Olive Oil,  Black Olives, Mushrooms (Sliced baby Bella), Sargento Shredded Mozzarella and Provolone Cheese, and Ragu Homestyle Pizza Sauce. As I said earlier the crust is fantastic! It bakes up to a golden brown with the outer crust nice and crunchy. I left the Pillsbury product description and web site link at the end of the post. For dessert later a Healthy Choice Chocolate Swirl Frozen Yogurt.

Today’s Menu: Medium Pepperoni and Italian Sausage Domino’s Pizza
I’ve been taking care of Mom and Dad for over a week now, both down with the flu that’s been going around. Me, I’ve been lucky I’ve dominos-pizza-002avoided it. Till now! Sometime overnight I started feeling the effects of it. Coughing, sneezing, and runny nose, NO FUN! So now all three of us have it and in a case like this, The Kitchen is Closed! So hello Domino’s!

So I ordered a Domino’s Pizza to be delivered. We ordered a Medium Pizza with Shredded Provolone Cheese, Normal amount of the Robust Sauce, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, Black Olives, on a Hand Tossed Pizza. It’s nice not to have to prepare dinner. First time in quite a while. I think we had a Pizza on New Year’s Day so it’s been a while. Pizza came as ordered hot and delicious, thank you Domino’s! For dessert later I’m really not sure. The way I feel now maybe nothing but sleep!

Today’s Menu: Newman’s Own Uncured Pepperoni Thin & Crispy PizzaNewman's Own Pizza 002

Another beautiful sunny Spring day! Mid 60′s today and the 70′s next week, finally! For dinner tonight I wanted something easy and light so I went with Newman’s Own Uncured Pepperoni Thin & Crispy Pizza. Everything is there you just pop it in the oven at 425 degrees for about 12 minutes and you have Pizza! It’s a Thin and Crispy Crust and the Pizza itself is well seasoned, a nice amount of toppings and fantastic flavor. Easy to make, a good Pizza, and a breeze to clean up. Plus it’s a Newman’s Own Product. Newman’s Own has donated Millions to Charity from the sale of their products. For dessert/snack later a 100 Calorie Mini Bag of Jolly Time Pop Corn

In 1982, Newman’s Own started as a tiny boutique operation – parchment labels on elegant wine bottles that Paul Newman filled with his homemade salad dressing and gave to his neighbors as holiday gifts. He expected train wrecks along the way and, instead, got one astonishment followed by another.

But in these thirty years we have earned over $350 million, all of which we’ve given to countless charities. How to account for this massive success? We haven’t the slightest idea but one thing we do know is we’re not stopping.

Today, Newman’s Own produces nearly 100 individual food products across 9 categories. Always great tasting, always all-natural, just the way our founder, Paul Newman, insisted. We’ll always follow his vision for putting quality first. The result: you end up with a pretty darn good meal.

This idea was in Paul Newman’s heart and, today, Newman’s Own continues his commitment to donate all profits from the sale of our food products to charity. Kitchen Hint of the Day!

Ow! If you or your child bites into a piece of pizza that’s too hot to eat, reach for a glass of milk. Milk will soothe the roof of your mouth better than cold water because the protein in milk will create a protective film over your burns. Now let the pizza cool a bit before you take another bite.

Today’s Menu: Home Made Pizza – Pillsbury Classic Pizza CrustClassic Crust Pizza 004

Heavy rain early this morning that gave way to a beautiful day today. It was in the mid 50′s and it felt good to get outside some today. For dinner tonight, Home Made Pizza – Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust.

I love using the Classic Pillsbury pizza Crust. It makes an excellent crust, browns up just right with perfect crusty edges. To prepare it just unroll it onto a cookie sheet and prebake it at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. Then take it out of the oven and add your toppings and back into the oven for 8 – 10 minutes until Cheese is melted, Crust is browned, and toppings are heated.

Speaking of the toppings I used Jennie – O Hot Lean Turkey Breakfast Sausage, Ragu Homestyle Pizza Sauce, Hormel Turkey Pepperoni, 1 small can of Sliced Black Olives, sliced Baby Bella Mushrooms, and Kraft 2% Shredded Mozzarella Cheese. Everything combined makes one delicious Pizza! For dessert/snack later a 100 Calorie Mini Bag of Jolly Time Pop Corn.

National Pizza Pie Day is Today, February 9!! Celebrate the Day!

A pizza just removed from an oven

A pizza just removed from an oven

Pizza is an oven-baked, flat, round bread typically topped with a tomato sauce, cheese and various toppings. Pizza was originally invented in Naples, Italy, and the dish has since become popular in many parts of the world. An establishment that makes and sells pizzas is called a “pizzeria”. Many varieties of pizza exist worldwide, along with several dish variants based upon pizza. In 2009, upon Italy’s request, Neapolitan pizza was safeguarded in the European Union as a Traditional Specialty Guaranteed dish.

In restaurants, pizza can be baked in an oven with stone bricks above the heat source, an electric deck oven, a conveyor belt oven or, in the case of more expensive restaurants, a wood- or coal-fired brick oven. On deck ovens, the pizza can be slid into the oven on a long paddle, called a peel, and baked directly on the hot bricks or baked on a screen (a round metal grate, typically aluminum). When made at home, it can be baked on a pizza stone in a regular oven to reproduce the effect of a brick oven. Another option is grilled pizza, in which the crust is baked directly on a barbecue grill. Greek pizza, like Chicago-style pizza, is baked in a pan rather than directly on the bricks of the pizza oven.

The bottom of the pizza, called the “crust”, may vary widely according to style—thin as in a typical hand-tossed pizza or Roman pizza, or thick as in a typical pan pizza or Chicago-style pizza. It is traditionally plain, but may also be seasoned with garlic or herbs, or stuffed with cheese.

The most popular cheeses to use on pizza are mozzarella, provolone, cheddar and parmesan. Romano and Ricotta are often used as toppings and processed cheese manufactured specifically for pizza is used in mass-produced environments. Processed pizza cheese is manufactured to produce preferable qualities like browning, melting, stretchiness and fat and moisture content. Many studies and experiments have analyzed the impact of vegetable oil, manufacturing and culture processes, denatured whey proteins and other changes to creating the ideal and economical pizza cheese. In 1997 it was estimated that annual production of pizza cheese was 2 billion pounds in the US and 200 million pounds in Europe.

Myriad toppings are used on pizzas, including, but not limited to:
Anchovies
Bacon
Ground beef
Mushrooms
Olives
Onions
Pepperoni
Peppers
Sausage
Seafood

immigrants in American culture, the US has developed regional forms of pizza, some bearing only a casual resemblance to the Italian original. Chicago has its own style of a deep-dish pizza. Detroit also has its unique twice-baked style, with cheese all the way to the edge of the crust, and New York City has its own distinct variety of pizza. New Haven-style pizza is a thin crust variety that does not include cheese unless the customer asks for it as an additional topping.

Everyone wanted Pizza tonight, so Pizza it is! I had used the Pillsbury Artisan Crust a few times so I gave the Classic Crust a try this time. It contains 30 less calories than the Artisan. I really love using the Pillsbury Crusts. Easy to use and bakes up a beautiful golden brown.

My toppings were Hormel Turkey Pepperoni, Jennie O Lean Breakfast Sausage, Black Olives, Mushrooms (Sliced baby Bella), Sargento Shredded Mozzarella and Provolone Cheese, and Ragu Homestyle Pizza Sauce. As I said earlier the crust is fantastic! It bakes up to a golden brown with the outer crust nice and crunchy. I left the Pillsbury product description and web site link at the end of the post. For dessert later a Healthy Choice Frozen Greek Yogurt Chocolate/Vanilla Swirl Cup.

Pizza tonight for dinner! Last week or so I made a Pizza using Pillsbury Artisan Pizza Crust and it turned out so delicious I had to have it again! The crust is the best home made crust I’ve ever had or made. the crust has 190 calories and 30 carbs with 16 grams of Whole Grain. Just wish those carbs were a bit lower. It bakes up perfect, golden brown.

To prepare it just preheat your oven on 400 degrees. Use a medium to large cookie sheet pan and spray it lightly with Pam. Then just open the can and spread the crust. The good thing about this is you make your crust as thin or as thick you want. I left the Pillsbury product description and web site link at the end of the post. For dessert later a Honeybell Orange!

Today’s Menu: Mozzarella &Turkey Sausage Flatbread Pizza

A hot fresh made Flatbread Pizza just sounded good on this cold and blustery Saturday. I made a Mozzarella &Turkey Sausage Flatbread Pizza. I used Flatout Flatbread Thin Crust Flatbread Heritage Wheat as my Flatbread. Love this Flatbread, it’s low in carbs and calories, browns up real nice, and has a fantastic pizza crust taste.

For my toppings I used Classico Traditional Pizza Sauce, Fresh Mozzarella Cheese Slices, sliced Black Olives, Hormel Sliced Turkey Pepperoni, sliced Baby Bella Mushrooms, and Jennie – O Spicy Turkey Breakfast Sausage. Everything combined makes one fantastic Pizza! A great alternative to high calorie and carb Pizza’s. This one’s right around 350 calories and its missing none of the taste of regular Pizza! For dessert later a bowl of Breyer’s Carb Smart Vanilla Ice Cream topped with Smucker’s Sugar Free Hot Fudge Topping.
